Default Squaddie hitching a lift.

Due to a car fire on the A34 today (don't worry, it was a French car) I was travelling so slowly that I spotted a squaddie thumbing a lift.
Nobody else was bothering so I jumped from the outside lane to the inside and picked him up. (Gave him a lift, just so that there is no confusion)
He had lost his wallet and was walking/hitching from from Bournemouth to Birmingham.
5 years in 2 Para, specialising in 'Demolition and Pyros', so if anybody spots a lonely Para wandering his way home to Brummieland and you need something torching or collapsing then give him a lift.

Thumbs up

We'll done Steve. You probably made that guys day.

It is small acts of kindness like this that makes our servicemen and women feel more appreciated, especially with the jobs they have to do in today's screwed up world.

+1

It could also encourage him to get a Jaguar and join the forum.

Of course, considering it was Steve picked him up in his XJS, it could have the opposite effect.

A bit harsh but totally fair!
Anyway, I was in the Scoobie which is just as well as his kitbag was ginormous and would not have fitted in the XJS.

Well done with the pongo Steve, it is amazing how many people will drive past you and leave you to walk, so thank you from all the veterans out here, your support and friendship is greatly appreciated

I hope he didn't make your car smell too bad!
