This event will be taking place on 29th May 2016 - most likely to be on the Brighton seafront as usual.

It is a Jaguar only event, and I am working on gaining much more industry support than previously, trying to get close to matching Jims last organised event :-), and ensuring that everyone has a fantastic day to remember.

There will be a convoy on the morning from Pease Pottage Services to the seafront, with us all setting up camp in one huge parking block prior to a fantastic breakfast with a sea view, and the main meet with as much going on as I can pull together for us including a free raffle for a number of must-have goodies, industry reps (see Industry Attendees list below to see who will have reps onsite) for you to quiz with problems, discounts etc etc. Plus the usual Welcome Packs on the day with free samples, info etc etc.

If you would like to sign up for this event please just pop a post on the thread inc how many will likely be coming, and car details, and I will add you in, noting you can join just the main event, or the event and convoy. If you prefer, you are also very welcome to sign up by dropping a line to JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk :-)

OK, you know my statistics about our events are not always perfect so please bear with me if I have missed anyone out *but* so far I think we have:

Attendees coming from the Midlands, South Wales, Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Worcestershire, London, and now the Netherlands :-) A much wider geographical spread than our previous events..

The following (rough) breakdown of attending cars as Daimler 6 x 1, S-Type x 8, X-Type x 2, XF x 1, XFR x 1, XJ x 3, XJR x 2, XJ8 x 1, XJS x 1, XK x 1 & XKR x 3 covering years 1995 - 2011.

It would be great to get some of the older Jags (pre 1996) along on the day with maybe some 2014/2015 models as well - if you know anyone with prized Jags in those years please see if they would like to come along as it would be great to cover as many production years as we can..

Hi Steve , just looked at " Events " section online in Brighton's newspaper called The Argus but as yet nothing about the gathering in May next year , is it worth a phone call to see if they may be interested in publishing an article and photo's of the day's events , best regards , pauljag ( South Wales ) Further investigation show's they have a Facebook Page as well ..

Hi Paul,

Thankyou for the thought, and please keep any other ideas coming :-)

I have previously been in contact with the editor of the Brighton Argus, and a number of their reporters but did not manage to get any coverage.

However I did manage to tie down one of their reporters via Twitter - @Argus_FloraT - who has agreed to see what she can do for us nearer the date.. I will be following up with her in January, along with another potential sponsor that has asked me to recontact them at that time.

Meanwhile though I will revisit the Brighton Argus Events team and give them another go.

Additionally I am still on the case with some more potential sponsors/supporters for our event I would love for us to have onboard but these ones are a little bit harder to persuade and require somewhat more persistence :-(

I will try to get onto The Argus again today, and let you know if we get any further... :-)

OK, today I am continuing to try to organise something with a coffee-house for us (they do tea/coffee/soft drinks etc) at the very start of the event and later in the week I will be doing the rounds again to see if I can get any closer to organising some discounted accomodation for any attendees making a weekend of the event.

At this point in time we have had over 16000 forum thread hits, have 60 Twitter followers and 10 facebook friends - an incredible level of interest for our event!

Thankyou to everyone who has got involved with our event so far - thanks to everyone from sponsors, to representatives on-site, through to all the attendees signing up - you are helping us to make the best Jaguar day out by the seaside fantastic!

Time for a quick update on our event:

Our forum threads have now amassed over 16500 hits!
The Facebook page for our event now has 12 friends
Our Twitter feed has stabilised at 59 followers
We have 10 major sponsors
Three industry reps will be onsite on the day

Thankyou to everyone for your interest and support in our event - we are well on our way to our largest Annual Brighton Convoy & Meet to-date :-)

I have started to ease off on chasing potential sponsors for the moment, and am concentrating on sorting our hot drinks for the start of the event, and accomodation discounts for those of you wanting to make a weekend of the event. These two things are taking a little longer to organise than I had expected so am now concentrating on sorting these before I move on..

As always if anyone has any ideas or thoughts that we could possibly implement please, please just let me know - no guarantees but I am very open to ideas :-)

Default UK South East Annual Brighton Meet 29th May 2016

Thanks for that Jim.

Things are coming together nicely as we go :-)

We have had some offers for the event that we just aren't kitted out for financially or logisitically (one such example was the offer of a Type D Jaguar coming along for the day) but I would love to take advantage of.

So I am already starting to chew over our options for 2017 :-) if I can just swing the offers that I have had so far, for then....

Meanwhile though, yes quite a bit is in place for our next event, but I still have a number of things I am trying to pull into place inc some further sponsors, discounted accomodation plus I am still trying to get the support of a coffee house for our early start.

I am hoping to get everything in place in time for a Christmas break and then in the New Year I will concentrate more on getting attendees signed up..

I will update everyone as we go, as always :-) so keep an eye on this space.. Quite a bit more to come as I go :-)

Hello again Steve , you asked for idea's and I couldn't help but think about that . I thought that a quick email to Brighton Local Radio ( Juice 107.2 - Radio Made In Brighton - Brighton's Local, Music Radio Station with News and Sport for Brighton & Hove ) could help as they cover Brighton and Hove area's on 107.2 FM and could promote the gathering for a few days before and on the day of the meet .. Their " Spirit of the city " section allows non profit organisations to promote their events .. Also , would Beulieu Motor Museum be interested in bringing out one or two of their classic Jaguars , just thinking , pauljag
