Ok guys I have taken an almost final look at the weather forecast for our 2019 event (I have been watching it for three months now!!) and we look likely to have 20-21 degrees, a shower first thing at maybe 7am, with maybe the chance of a thundery shower at 1pm - so overall dry weather from the start to end of the event at 4pm, with the exception of lunchtime so bring your umbrella with you just in case, but hopefully you won't need it

Ok a mixed bag of an update for you - things very busy here at the moment..

I am sorry to have to say that Delta Performance have had to drop out at last minute due to family issues, my thoughts are with them.

On the flip side tonight, I am just adding a block booking of four Jaguars including an XJ Hearse and an XJ Limousine :-)

A huge thankyou to everyone for their support whilst I am working through all the last minute changes that usually happen in the 48 hours before an event. I appreciate it.

This is when I get to lose most of what little hair I have left on my head each year :-)

We now have just four places remaining!! I do have a little wriggle room if needed on this figure, but not much so if you have yet to sign up for this years event please do so quickly or you will miss out on this years event.

Welcome to our Eighth JaguarForumsUK Convoy & Meet event!
This will be our sixth year of running this event, and is genuinely the biggest, most feature packed event we will have ever run.

Our event is a great Jaguar day out for you, your Jaguar, and your family, with a convoy element, as well as main one day event - including:

Free Welcome packs
A range of class awards that your Jaguar could win
Talks on how to look after and maintain your Jaguar
Trade stands with great products & services at show prices, plus free advice.
Clubs and Forums are now participating too.
Trade demonstrations showing you the trade at work
A quiz to test your knowledge of Jaguar history and trivia (spanning 1920 - 2004), finding our most knowledgeable attendee
A great prize draw (the largest prize fund to-date) with prizes ranging from must-haves to incredible treats for you or your Jaguar

Add to this a convoy/drive through glorious Sussex and Surrey countryside, a superb venue at Denbies Wine Estate (the largest wine estate in England), great Jaguars spanning all walks of life, incredible company and you have our event. And not just all this, but Denbies have a range of award winning wines you can buy and take home with you, plus a carvery restaurant with great food and drink to keep you going through the day.

So go on, treat yourself and your Jaguar to a great day out. Our event is free to sign up for and attend, with just a small fee for entering the prize draw on the day, making it ideal for you and your family, even if you are on a budget! Please feel free to take a look at our previous events to see what to expect, and what attendees thought of our event - we have a great Jaguar day out for you, and would love to welcome you to our 2019 event :-)

Please keep an eye on this thread at your favourite Jaguar forum, our event Facebook page, or via our event Twitter or Instagram feeds as any and all updates will appear there as we go. Additionally our event has a new website at www.solidlinux.co.uk giving you access to archived photos from our event, links to all our past and current threads, competition details, discount codes, and more.

Just checked the Accuweather forecast for tomorrow and the risk of showers is now not until 5pm meaning that we (as good as you can figure from a British weather forecast) should have a dry day with a mix of sunshine and clouds with a temp of 19 degrees :-)

I didn't wash my S-Type 2.7D last week as I was holding out until our event.. weather here dry but looking variable today so washing it tonight and hoping it stays clean into the morning :-) Tree pollen, tree sap, bird poo.. ugh.. thenkfully I waxed her three weeks ago I think it was so hoping it all washes off fine :-)

Tonight I will be shifting everything from all over the house to one central area for the morning and we do have a lot this year without a doubt :-)

We are down to literally a handful of free slots still available so if you haven't signed up yet there is still time but you need to be quick.. and you could join 160 Jaguars spanning over 80 years of production, trade stands, club stands and club/forum areas, show prices, talks, and so so much more - we have a complete day for you and accpording to Accuuweather have booked good weather until after we have finished for the day :-)

Don't forget it's 8:30am, and you *should* have access to a discount at Costa to get you started as well as a discount on food/drink at our main venue :-)

See you there!

It's now 9:15pm the night before our event - all the boxes of Welcome Packs, prizes, and all the various bits and pieces are all in a central location ready to go.. the S-Type is as ready as it can be.. I think most of the last minute issues have all been resolved, or at least dealt with.. and I'm knackered lol

Tomorrow I should be leaving for Pease Pottage at about 7:45am to be there for around 8am to make sure everything is ready for everyone and the start of our Jaguar day out :-)

We have good weather, 160 Jaguars, 250 attendees, 8 awards, some incredible prizes in the prize draw, and you even get a free newspaper with your Welcome Packs in the morning..

We should have a discount on Costa at Pease Pottage Services, subject to the shift being told about us (which doesn't always happen :-( ) and we have a 10% discount at Denbies on our breakfasts and lunches there.

A massive thankyou to everyone involved with our event - without you we would not have the day ahead that we do.

I look forward to meeting you tomorrow, and hopefully give you a great Jaguar day out :-)

Hi everyone - Thankyou to everyone who attended our event today - I really appreciate it!

Tonight I am nursing sunburn, and a small vertical dink in my rear bumper from when I was getting takeaway tonight.. blah.. that's a job for the summer to add to my list..

However in the meanwhile photos are starting to go online from the event and can be found at https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ao-7HJVAHqvXnSjtLh0-n8i8cxPI or via the 2019 photos link at the event website JaguarForumsUK - The free annual convoy & meet event for Jaguar owners - I will get the full info from the day online during the week next week for everyone.. meanwhile this link is dynamic and will update as photos come in

OK guys, I have been up half the night working on things, and this year with more Jaguars and attendees (150 Jaguars and 200 attendees - approx 30% or so more attending Jaguars than last year), and more work, we made less income from the Prize draw than we did last year - the total income worked at at £150-£160 and where I am quite good at gaining items for the prize draw, the venues, items for the Christmas competition and getting people involved at no or little cost for us, the costs involved in the event just for printing, a simple web site, phone calls etc mean we are already back to working at a loss. Thankfully I am happy putting in the time organising free, but if the event continues it is now going to involve me not only putting in my time for the next year but also money to cover the up and coming costs. It is something I need to think on for a short while.. if anyone has any ideas or thoughts on the best way forward you are very welcome to drop me a line, but for a free event that offers as much as ours does, it should at least meet its own costs I think.. early on it didn't but up until last year it had started to catch up and meet its costs.. I really do appreciate that some of you brought 5 or even 10 tickets on the day, and that really helps towards things but even with that we averaged £1 -£1.10 per car which if you follow my maths doesn't cover the event costs even on a per person basis.. let me have a think whilst I put the synopsis of the day together, which I will get online during the week, and if anyone has any thoughts please drop me a line. We have a great community with our event, everyone working together whether it be volounteering time to marshal, helping out with photos, awards etc and as you know I am happy organising the event for everyone - we have a great event but I need to find a way for it to meet its costs in order for this to work and I am out of new ideas on how not to make aprofit, but to make the event meet its basic costs :-)

thanks for a great day Steve, it did seem that some people had their own idea of timings etc. you defiantly need to make selling raffle tickets a higher priority with maybe some volunteers going person to person to get more sold.. As it was my first rally with you, i really didn't see the tickets being sold anywhere. also maybe draw the raffle earlier in the day so everyone is still there . but all being said it was a fantastic well organised day, you should be very proud of your achievements . thanks again

Steve,

Good to hear the day went well - not so good about your rear bumper damage.

Although I prefer to run modern Jaguars nowadays, I especially like to see the older models in such superb condition and will be returning to your linked photos hoping to see more of the same.

You put a massive effort in year after year to organise this Meet and it's neither realistic nor even acceptable for you to be out of pocket. To keep it as a free event, your only income option seems to be maximising raffle ticket sales. If sales on the day were below expectations, you may have to consider advance sales. Doing this through the forum is not possible but perhaps you could do it through your event website? If so, then mentions in your 2020 thread and a link are OK.

Graham

Hi Graham, the day was incredible in that we had everything from a 1958 formula 1 Jaguar through to an SS100, customised Jaguars and so much more - there was around 150 attending Jaguars and 200 or so attendees. Photos will follow on here and of course can be tracked down through the events website links as well.
I have spent a long time through the night and into today chatting with the core attendees and yes, our only option is to make some changes. Some of the attendees have been incredible and picked up on the shortfall enabling me to get to work on the 2020 event.. also all the photos we have, have been taken by, and passed to me for distribution, by attendees again incredible and we have some fantastic shots too.
Because of the shortfall, ie less costs were covered despite an increase in attending Jaguars by over 30% I have been encouraged, realistically too, to run with signing up attendees paying £5 at the point of signing up giving them their prize draw entry as well as entrance on the day - all income, as always, will be ploughed straight back in. I would like to keep the thread running for the 2020 event with the latest news, who is signed up etc but pointing people to the website for signup information.. hopefully that will keep the event within the rules here.
We were up against it this year with no photographer, and two traders dropping out, but with the massive help of everyone involved we still managed a great event, and the biggest ever :-) I really regret having to change the model for covering the event costs, which are quite significant now the event has grown from 6 Jaguars to 150, but after a lot of hours in discussions with everyone this is the only realistic way of doing it.
Some good news also, our event has gained a patron!! Again as always with our event, a whole new thing for me to get to grips with.. plus, between now and 2020 I am changing the order of features to fit in better with attendees, upping the prize draw content, increasing the number of trade stands, improving the signage to prevent people missing the entrance to the event and more - I have a huge to-do list to work through based on the feedback from attendees this year. So even more on the go.. I think I need a clone :-)
Please let me know if my idea will remain within the rules, and enjoy the photo's :-)
