Hi RGP, Some people are travelling fair distances to make the convoy and meet, some even staying in local hotels the night before to be able to make it.. so I think allowing for when hotel breakfasts are served and for travel time for those from some way away 8am is as early as we can reasonably go for a Sunday :-) We'll still be in Brighton by 8:45 before the main tourists arrive about 9:30-10am, and won't have too long to wait to hit the local cafe for breakfast and mugs of tea...

OK - The dealership have confirmed they will be attending on the day with a V8 F-Type Coupe, and the cafe has (so far) agreed to a fixed cost of £5 per person for big breakfast and drink on the day.. *but* I am trying to get that figure knocked down a bit further for us and am waiting on the manager to contact me - I will update you as I go

OK, couldn't get the price down on the breakfast - but have arranged so anyone attending the meet can get a basic breakfast or burger or fish meal and tea/coffee all inclusive for £5. Additionally the cafe will ensure they are open by 9am for us..

Ok I am on the last couple of things to try and sort - one is Jaguar sponsorship - I have been in contact with the Jaguar Sponsorship Manager but have yet to get any feedback, and the other is to try to get The Brighton Argus to carry a panel or two and maybe some pics of our event - I have tried the reporters directly and had no feedback so am now in contact with the editor... Once these are in the bag I'll have another look at trying to get more of the classic or unusual cars to come to the meet (with their owners :-))
There is two bits of good news (apart for fixed price food) which is that Harwoods should be with us all day, and they want to participate in any future meets so hopefully we are guaranteed a good meet not just this summer but every summer from now :-)

Here is the current schedule (subject to change as we get closer to the date)

08:00 Meet in Pease Pottage Service Station of 20 or so cars
08:15 Travel down to Madiera Drive in convoy
09:00 Set up in a large parking block at the pier end of Madiera Drive
09:15 Meet up with attendees that could not make the convoy & signage placed inside windscreens of cars at the meet to help us know who is who etc
09:30-10:30 Big Breakfast in the Seagull restaurant a few metres from the meet
10:30 General social events etc kick off
11:30 Some banner signing by everyone there and some group shots for the forums

Parking, if I remember correctly, is £10 for up to four hours, and £15 for up to 12 hours (it all went up this year) and we have fixed price basic breakfast/burger/fish meals plus a tea or coffee at £5 per person on quoting a 'secret squirrel' code :-) which I'll advise on on the day.
I would appreciate it if anyone coming to the meet or the convoy tracks me down on arrival for a dashboard info sheet, and any handouts I can get, or need to hand out to you guys.
I'll post any updates as we go of course, and repost the final schedule towards the end of this week.. I very much appreciate everyone giving their time to attend, and hope that everyone enjoys the day - hopefully by the day I'll have the start of some info on next years meet on the go lol.. and remember I am still taking bookings for a smaller meet in December this year :-)

For anyone considering coming along, but unsure whether to or not please come along and join the rest of us.. you know the itinery from further back in the thread.. it is a fantastic chance to put faces (and cars) to names from the forums, to meet everyone in a great location with the sea in front of you, the promenades as the backdrop.. Harwoods Jaguar will be in attendance, we have a great deal on food so you won't go hungry, there will be group photos etc for the forums, I am trying to get us into the local paper with photos, and last but by far the best thing is you will get to see a wide range of Jaguars, different models, engine capacities, and ages all in the one place.. other people there to advise you on any issues you may have with your Jaguar, you may well have tips for other owners.. it is going to be a great day out - a Jaguar sort of TopGear day! And that isn't all - we are also running a convoy down the A23 - a huge block of Jaguars travelling in convoy from Crawley to Brighton.. far enough for a convoy but not so far as to strain any classic Jaguars that may come along.. so if you are undecided please read through the thread, and maybe put your name forward for a great day out!

I have been keeping an eye on the BBC long range weather but its a few days yet before it will list the 25th with any degree of certainty :-( But I am hoping looking at the weather just before the 25th that it will at worst case just be showers - fingers crossed

Meanwhile I am still chasing the Brighton Argus, and trying to get some feedback or response from Jaguar regarding possible sponsorship for next year.. I've also raised threads in some of the model specific areas in the hope we can get some classic, or less common Jaguar models to come along.. grin.. so I am *almost* done... :-)

If all goes well on the day RGP I will be well chuffed - the response from fellow Jag owners, and the people/companies supplying us with deals/services has all been fantastic and if everyone enjoys the day, I am more than happy to try to plan bigger and even better for next year :-) My thanks go out to everyone for their support in making the day happen... now if we can just swing something with the weather for the day..... :-)

For anyone wanting to know the state of play, or wondering who is coming and if it is worth coming along and joining here's a quick summary of who/what is going to be around on the 25th so far:

The convoy has 24 confirmed cars coming along - travelling from Pease Pottage Services to Madiera Drive.

The meet itself with the classic backdrop of the Brighton Promenades has 31 cars and 45 attendees confirmed as coming along.

The cars that will be there cover the following models of Jaguar:

F-Type (including a showroom coupe), S-Type, S-Type R, XF, XFR, XK, XKR, XJ6 & XJ8, XJR, XJS, XK, X-Type

The cars are covering Jaguar production from 1984 right through to TODAY

So whether you have a Jaguar, or are planning to get a Jaguar, or just want to learn about them why not come along... Just put your name down on this thread at JaguarForums.com, JaguarForum.co.uk, JaguarOwnersClub.com, or Pistonheads.com and join us for a great day..

OK a couple of the last few touches - we should be appearing at Whats on at Madeira Drive Brighton and on the general events page at whatson.brighton.co.uk in the next few hours which may well help with getting more public awareness of our event. Additionally also at welovebrighton.com
I am still chasing The Brighton Argus to no avail, but am hopeful I can get them to attend for some more coverage..

Tomorrow (Friday) is my birthday (I'm losing track as the years go by :-)) sooo I will likely be off the forums Friday, Saturday, and Sunday having some family time before the last few days of preparation for the meet.. so where you can post to the forums over the weekend, if anything needs my input it will not be actioned until Monday I'm afraid. I will be monitoring my email stephen.sheldon@solidlinux.co.uk though so if it is something urgent or pressing please feel free to drop me an email over the period..
I will be back on top of things on Monday though I promise :-)

Many happies, mate - I'm gutted that I'm going to miss the gathering again. The work you've put into organising it has really paid off, and that's an impressive lineup you've assembled.

Many thanks Ngarara - I'm still missing the earlier classic and the more unusual ones - but I will be working on that next week in the final few days and am hoping to persuade some to come along.. still working on the newspaper for some coverage for the day, and Jaguar to sponsor next years big meet (will still organise a smaller meet for December meanwhile too).. It would have been nice if you could have come along - but I *am* ahead of myself as always and already mulling over a bigger and more outstanding meet for next year that you can hopefully make.. and I am taking bookings for December currently lol
All the best
Steve
