Just to let you know I have checked the parking charges for Madeira Avenue in Brighton, and the charges have increased there from £6 or so we paid last meet, to £10 for four hours which would carry us through the morning into the afternoon there.. However if the weather is good it is still an absolute prime spot for a meet :-)

Just to update you - I have left voicemail with Highways Dept in Brighton to see if Madiera Avenue is open on the dates we are looking at (as it is frequently closed for events) - as soon as I have got their confirmation I'll let everyone know ..

OK, Madiera Drive is closed on the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 24th of May.. applications to close the road have to be in 12 weeks in advance so whilst there is an event at one end of Madiera Drive on the 25th, the main straight is still open and should be guaranteed to be available. So the date/venue for our second ever South-East UK Meet is set as the 25th May at Madiera Drive in Brighton at whichever end is not in use :-)

Steve,

Pleased to hear you've found a suitable slot between the road closures.

Attendee numbers are building nicely and having a definite date will help others to decide.

Sorry, guys, that counts me out, I'm afraid - I'll have the Beast in the Emerald Isle, trying not to fall foul of the Guardí.

There's always a next time...

I'm sorry to say that Mike & Ngarara cant make the date.... so below you should find the latest list.. I am hoping that we'll get some more members interested now we have a fixed date, and not too many drop out on us, as it should be a really good day out for us.

It's no problem DWF... I'm looking forward to all of us having a day out.. a mini TopGear day - well sort of... my better half whilst not into this is patiently putting up with me organising this - it sort of takes over as the date approaches grin.. *but* it's well worthwhile for the end result :-)

Hi Steve,
Not sure what happened here but on 27th Feb I posted:

"I would prefer later in May rather than the earlier dates, but with school half term starting the last weekend may be problematic for some?
Whatever the date I will do my best to attend (with my generic OBDII code reader and happy to plug in for whoever wants)."

There is still some uncertainty due to delayed fixtures and that being a holiday weekend, but all being well I still hope to see you on the 25th, complete with my trusty iPad for researching further code detail if necessary.

Hi John - No problem. I only listed people on the dates where they had specific dates they could make.. a bit of a flaky system I admit but I would rather more people could make it than we think, rather than less if that makes any kind of sense lol (mental image of just me there and a load of tumbleweed grin)
Just updating the list now - thankyou for letting me know :-), and I look forward to seeing you on the day.

For any one else considering coming along but not yet decided...
This should be a great day out for you and your car by the seaside against the classic backdrop of the Brighton promenades. A chance to meet the other forum members, pick up hints or tips about your car and do the same for others. (For me esp :-)) a great chance to see all the models of Jaguar in just one place, hear the gorgeous sound of a number of different sized Jaguar engines, and the work we all put in to show our cars off at their best. Cars from 1984 right through to 2010 will be there..
In addition to the meet we are also organising a convoy down the A23 to Brighton for the start of the day, along with the obligatory big breakfast and mugs of tea in a local café there. I am hoping we can also get something or other sorted with Jaguar but I think we are dependant on numbers to manage that - but I will give it a good go. So if you are free on the 25th of May and want a really good top gear type of Jaguar day out please just put your name down for it..

Steve,

Sorry to mess you about but have literally just found out I am supposed to be one of Nike's Partner Club guests at the FA's new National Football Centre at St Georges Park for the weekend 24/25th May.
This includes a conducted tour of the new facility, various workshops/Q&A sessions with FA officials/Premier League & England players, their pre & post match analysis with large screen viewing of the Champions League Final in the evening, plus grub and hotel accommodation.

This ones a no brainer I'm afraid, leaving me with little chance of getting back in time on the Sunday.

My sincere apologies, and best wishes for the 25th. I really hope you get the support you deserve after all the hard work you have put into organising this.
Best Regards,

John

PS. If you still need a generic code scanner reading and help working out what the codes mean I will happily pop over to yours one weekend. Let me know.
