Hi Jim,
Well the latest state of play is that I have found the decals from the last meet, and have sufficient to share out without a problem. I have been chasing VisitBrighton to progress getting our advertising online, and am waiting on the outcome there. I have checked with Brighton Council and they have verified that one half of Madeira Drive will be open on the day as they need 12 weeks notice of a closure and we already have less time than that to go - however because it is open we'll need to setup fairly early on the day to guarantee parking slots. I have copied the meet details across to jaguarforum.co.uk and have started to get response from the members there, also have tried to keep jaguarowners club upto date but have been unable to get the full details across as the cut and paste doesn't work (for me at least :-( ) I know last time you made contact with the local Jaguar dealer and was wondering if you could do the same this time for me? I would appreciate it.
I am on a family holiday in Lincolnshire next week and will be around to a degree by mobile app but would appreciate it if you could keep an eye on this whilst I'm not around.. it would be good to be able to keep the momentum going on things if we can.
Meanwhile though everything so far, to be honest is more due to the support of everyone, and their interest in the meeting - I'm just pulling it together lol
As soon as the advert is up on VisitBrighton I can then tackle the local papers again and see if we can get some press coverage and we'll see a bit more progress :-)

Many thanks Jim I appreciate all the help I can get.. I'm still mulling over things to try I didn't get to try with the last meet, if any of them pay off I'll update everyone :-)
Thanks for the copying across - but I tried every way I could and the browser on this PC refused to copy - but only refused to do it that site lol

Steve, you're welcome mate
A few suggestions that came up at our meet with around 35 people.......
I know it may sound so "primary school" but with that many members, name badges of some sort will be really invaluable.
You will always get those that don't want to wear them, but if the majority do, it will help as time goes by. We spent many hours trying to remember everyones names, at least I did....lol
Also, one of the members created an A4 page c/w the Jaguarforums.com Logo c/w the members name and car added too.
This to sit on the dashboard for all to see instantly who the car belongs too.
Just a few points / suggestions and something that we found from our meet that you may find helpful?
Cheers
Jim

Grin, yes I clearly remember struggling with the names of people at the last smaller meet - I will add this to my to-do list.. and yes with my memory for names it will help smooth my day no end, plus listing who's car is who's will help with the photographs too.. any other thoughts will be gratefully taken onboard :-)

For any one else considering coming along but not yet decided... Why not come along?
This should be a great day out for you, and your car, by the seaside against the classic backdrop of the Brighton promenades.
A chance to meet the other forum members (you have often wondered what faces and cars are represented by the posts on here), pick up hints or tips about your car and do the same for others. A chance to say thanks in person to members that have helped you, or them of you.
This is a fantastic chance to see all the models of Jaguar in just one place, hear the gorgeous sound of a number of different capacities and ages of Jaguar engines, and to see the work we all put in to show our cars off at their best.
The will be cars right from 1984 through to 2010 there.. over 25 years of car production by our favourite luxury car manufacturer. Additionally I am trying to get every model represented if I can.
Also, In addition to the meet itself we are also organising a convoy down the A23 from Crawley to Brighton for the start of the day, along with the obligatory big breakfast and mugs of tea in a local café there before we start, and a chance to get to know everyone.
During the day members of public will likely have a look at our cars and photograph them, asking questions, stopping to chat.. we'll get some pics of our meet and the signed banner up on the forum.. and most importantly we will know who is who on the forum.. and their cars :-)
Currently I am sorting advertising with the VisitBrighton tourism website and JaguarWorld Monthly, and will next tackle the local papers to see what additional public interest we can get in this event..
I am hoping we can also get something or other sorted with Jaguar but I think we are dependant on numbers to manage that - but we will give it a good go.
So if you are free on the 25th of May and want a really good Top Gear type of Jaguar day out please just put your name down for it..

We now have 18 cars confirmed for the day, 23 attendees, and 11 cars for the convoy down for the start of the day.. JaguarWorld Monthly should be carrying our press release to see if anyone from outside the forums wants to come along and join in the events of the day.. I am still waiting on VisitBrighton to up the advert on their site.. and before the day I'll get the local press on the go.. It's going to be a great day - and for me at least a good chance to put faces and cars to names :-) If you haven't signed up for this day out yet and are free on the 25th May please consider putting yourself forward for this great day out..

OK, we are now listed in the online events guide at The Brighton Argus: JaguarForums.com Big Meet on 25 May 2014 at 09:30
The newspaper *may* come down to the event also ..

The grill looks nice, and at £45 not at all bad.. good purchase.. :-) I love the paintwork as well - after the recent sandy rains here my baby jag looks *nothing* like that currently sigh :-)
The plan is to meet at Pease Pottage Service Station Car Park (at the bottom of the M23) at about 9am on the day - I will try my best to get there just after 8:30am on the day.
Any problems or queries you can get me by email at Stephen.sheldon@solidlinux.co.uk or on WhatsApp on 07914 116375 on the day or thereabouts :-) I don't want anyone getting lost
