It's Friday! We have made it, and as always our once a year event has been busier than you would expect :-)

Further to our WhatsApp group having issues with its security, we have now migrated most of our WhatsApp subscribers to our Telegram group, and will be closing the WhatsApp group today. If you haven't joined our Telegram chat group yet please consider doing so as it keeps you in the loop with our event just before any news or updates surface :-)

We have added a club/forum page to the event website to make sure everyone can find the support they need not just at the event but right through the year and we are working on making it an international listing so anyone anywhere can always get the support they need for their Jaguar.

We have gained a new sponsor, as of yesterday - MAD Detailing and they are offering an incredible prize for the prize draw to be announced nearer the time. Pleae join me inwelcoming them to our event :-)

This week Denbies agreed to offer group discounts to our attendees on the day of our event which is very generous of them, meaning you can now book wine tastings, tours and more to ensure you get the most out of your time at our Great British Day Out for Jaguar Owners.

I am waiting to hear back from the Rotary Club regarding their involvement with this years event - if they do come onboard we will be supporting two incredible chritable causes this year which will be fantastic and a real milestone for us :-)

Ok, that's the summary of this weeks activities.. time for our weekly stats so you can see how we are doing:

Hi everyone - one day our event will be quiet, but that definitely isn't today or even this week :-)

As you are likely aware we have now officially joined forces with the Rotary Club (Dorking) and we will be supporting both theirselves and the RNLI with donations from our events. The Rotary Club will also be helping us out with the marshaling on the day too to help you all get into the main event quickly and efficiently.

Our new signage for the roundabout exit, and the start point of the convoy/drive will be with us next week, in plenty of time for the event.

We have had an enquiry from a UK based club, and have made contact with a Jaguar club in France - hopefully they will both come onboard with us.

Our event website has been undergoing some work so you will find some pages are either more concise or better presented, and others look very much like they are in progress - please bear with me as everything comes completely into place before the event :-)

The number of attendees is steadily growing and we are almost a third of the way to our target of 300 Jaguars for the day, and P & K Thornton Restorations have agreed to attend on the day itself so you can meet them and see their incredible restoration work.

Harwoods Jaguar have been supporting us for some years now, but have only just agreed to a feature page on our event website - it is well worth taking a look at if you get the opportunity.

I have checked up with our accomodation provider and we have had almost five times as many rooms booked there than in previous years, so we have increased our block allocation there to ensure that no one else intending to take advantage of the deal we have with them, has any problems booking.

Our Instagram following is steadily increasing, and I should make better use of that for the latest event news - we literally have, same as on Facebook, Jagsters all around the planet following us and seing what we are up to, which is incredible.

The process of booking attendees in has been finalised for this years event - I think you will find it is much beter than previous years and you will be able to sign in at the start of the day and get to the right place at the main venue so much more easily. Full details of the check-in process will be posted closer to the date for everyone.

My main concern at the moment is memory lol.. same as every year I know there is something in amongst everything I will have forgotten, but hopefully whatever it is, it is minor lol This year is much more complex with a much bigger team looking after everything for you - and this is our test run before our Anniversary event in 2021, so I am working hard to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible for everyone.

If anyone knows of any clubs or forums I should be in touch with, that would love to join us all on the day (remember club/forum plots and allocated areas are free to book!) please, please put them in touch with me, or me with them as we only have weeks now until the event....

Also if you haven't registered for this years event yet, please do! We have a fantastic Jaguar day out for you, and would love it if you could join us :-)

I will be posting the usual Friday Stats tomorrow so you know where we are with everything, and don't forget to give our weekly quiz a go.. Peter Simpson has given us some incredible questions this week :-)

Happy Friday Jagsters :-)

Here are the answers to this weeks trivia quiz. How did you do? If you got tweo or more right you should consider entering the quiz on our event facebook group as you could be listed as one of our 'Most Knowledgeable Jagster's of the week :-)

1. When the XK 120 was being developed into the XK 140 how was it referred to by the development team?
C. XK 120 Mk IV

Did you know that the (XK) Mk IV was much tested by Norman Dewis who once took it to a Boy Scouts’ Club meeting for them to look at the car – none of today’s great secrecy!

2. When the D-type was being developed what was its code name?
A. XP/11

Did you know the car was sometimes called XKC 054 because the last C-type made was 053, although its actual chassis number was XKC 201. It’s a wonder anyone knew what to call it!

3. The XJ-S replaced the E-type but what was its development name?
A. XJ27

Did you know the XJ27 was always designed as a closed car but a convertible version with code name XJ28 was proposed but never developed.

Plesase join me in thanking Peter Simpson for this weeks incredible questions about our favourite marque.

After a weekend of storm Ciara, and with our Jaguars parked up safe and sound, we really need something to take our minds off the fact that it is a Monday - so here is this weeks Jaguar trivia quiz for everyone.

Peter Simpson of the Jaguar Breakfast Club has come up with some questions this week that none of us can complain we are too young to know the answers to.. the XK (X150 model) from 2005 to 2014.

Good luck everyone :-)

1. Which model was designed first?
A. Coupé B. Convertible C. Both designed concurrently

2. The XK was constructed from aluminium and involved automation in its production but how much was built by robots?
A. 60% B. 70% C80%

3. How many engine sizes were fitted to the XK during its lifespan?
A. 1 B. 2 C. 3

I know some of you reading our event threads and info are wondering whether to register for this years event, as after all a large commercial event often offers far more than you would expect from a grassroots not-for-profit event.

Well, our grassroots event is not your typical event - we are not-for-profit, support not one but two charities and at the same time offer you an incredible day out for not a lot, making us perfect for anyone like me who is on a budget but wants all the bells and whistles you get with a big event.

Our event will 'blow your doors off' as Michael Caine once said in a movie about British cars, and does so on pretty much no budget whatsoever.

Our event offers a convoy/drive element as well as our main event
We have clubs, forums, specialists and national and multinational companies there to meet you
We have awards you can win including fun ones such as exhaust tone and how clean is your engine bay?
We have a prize draw with some incredible prizes you could win
We have talks and demo's by the professionals, including all the free specialist advvice you could ever need
Everything is included in your Registration except for your fuel, and lunch
Your lunch costs are discounted on the day to help you eat well whilst you are with us
You can (as an event attendee) get group discount on winery tours and tasting experiences
You can meet Jaguars from all walks of life, meet businesses who depend on Jaguars and more
On the day we may well be running our weekly 'Most Knowledgeable Jagster' Quiz - a chance to be noted by everyone as a Jaguar guru
You can even get show prices on a number of must have products and services on the day

In all this you will be helping us to support the incredible RNLI & the Rotary Club (Dorking) make a difference to so many people at sea and in the local community

And it doesn't end there - we run weekly quizzes to test your Jaguar knowledge, we have an active Telegram Chat group, we have a Facebook group you will love, and a website that not only gives you all the archive photos, threads, and more but also all the latest event news, and is expanding to encompass all the latest JLR info too.

So whilst we are a grassroots Jaguar event with no budget, and one of the lowest registration costs out there we offer you more than almost any other grassroots event out there whilst also supporting charities, giving you a great day out and inclusion in a very active community where you can get as involved as you want, at a level that suits you.

We are involved with North American Jaguar Clubs, UK & European Clubs and forums, a range of specialist companies and we support ALL Jaguars be they showroom, cherished classics, school run, modified, project, or only just on the road (like mine :-)) so why not sign up for this years event and come along and see what we are doing for everyone? You will be guaranteed the same warm welcome whether you have a basic or top of the range Jaguar, modified or standard, old or new model..

So much is going on currently with our event - so here is a mini update for you :-)

The signage for the roundabout exit is now with me and looks incredible, as does the signage for the organiser tent. Huge thanks go to Purple Signs for it.

The Rotary Club are connecting with Soraya (who looks after our event marshalling) to ensure that everyone can get into the main venue without an issue.

We have just kicked off a club/forum register on the event website - if your club isn't there let me know and we will get it added. Its purpose is to connect you with a great and incredible Jaguar club or forum wherever you may be.

The number of attending Jaguars is growing, as is our 2020 Gallery where you can see what Jaguars you will meet on the day, before the day.

I am now very close to starting work on all the paperwork that goes into your Welcome Packs, just a few last jobs to do before I move onto that.

If you have yet to sign your Jaguar up please do.. we have an incredible event lined up for you, grassroots as always but on a scale we have never managed before, and this year you will be helping the RNLI & Rotary Club (Dorking) in their incredible work too.. so go on, sign your Jaguar up and guarantee your slot at our May 24th event :-)

This weeks questions were all about the XK (X150 model) from 2005 to 2014.

On our event Facebook group we had five Jagsters get two out of three.. how did you do?

1. Which model was designed first?
B. Convertible

Did you know that even though the Coupé was announced publicly one month before the convertible, the planning for the convertible began first due to its greater technical difficulty?

2. The XK was constructed from aluminium and involved automation in its production but how much was built by robots?
A. 60%

Did you know that this figure was higher for the aluminium XJ (over 70%) but being a lower volume sports car there was more human involvement with the XK.

3. How many engine sizes were fitted to the XK during its lifespan?
C. 3

Did you know that in addition to the 4.2 and 5.0 litre engines around 1300 cars received the 3.5 V8 as fitted to the XJ. These went to European markets dictated by tax and engine size brackets. Little is known about where they now!

A massive Thankyou to Peter Simpson of the JBC for these facts regarding the XK150, every week I am learning a little more about Jaguar :-)

It's Friday - we have made it :-) and it's time for our usual weekly stats..

We have had a busy week with our event with a lot happening on our event website - our Classified section is just starting to take off, our new Jaguar Experience page is doing well, and our new Club Register is finally fully in place enabling event attendees to find clubs and forums in their area that they can join. All the signage we have managed to purchase so far is now with me, and hopefully next week I can make a start on the paperwork inc maps, event info, sponsors and more that I need to produce for you guys.

Don't forget you still have time to book your wine estate tours, and tasting experiences with Denbies for the day remembering to say you are with JaguarForumsUK and we get the group rate.

Also, if you have been worrying about registering for this years event due to distance from you, we still have our uinique attendee only deal running with a great hotel very close to the start point, that you can book at a very good fixed rate.

This years event already has a streamlined registration system in place, and with the help we are receiving from the Rotary Club (Dorking) we can get you into the main venue quickly and efficiently than ever before.

One of our most popular pages on our event website recently is the 2020 Gallery - where, unlike most events, you can actually get to see the Jaguars you will meet on the day before the event.

If you are a member of, or run a Jaguar club (big or small) and you are not currently listed in our Club Register on the event website please just drop me a line with the details and I will get you added in.. if you are not listed there yet it just means no one has asked for a listing, so go on, get your club added in :-)

If you would like a FREE trade plot, community plot, or club plot and/or club allocated area PLEASE drop me a line as we still have some spare capacity for stands on site for the day.

And finally, if you haven't registered your Jaguar yet, you are risking missing out on a Great British Day Out for Jaguar Owners, talks, promotions, show prices, some work performed onsite, prizes, and awards and helping us to support the RNLI & Rotary Club (Dorking).. so go on, please register your Jaguar and help us to help you have a great day AND support charity..

Did I mention that this year our event patron Frank Woodford MBE will (subject to things) will be popping in by helicopter to meet everyone and promote the RNLI?

Ok, here are the stats so you know exactly where we are with things this week.....

We have 75 Jaguars and an incredible 144 attendees registered so far
Our forum threads for this years event have received a massive 27,000 hits to-date
Our Facebook page has 4954 friends and our group 828 members
We have an amazing 21 sponsors
We have 10 trade stands & 5 club stands booked so far
Our Twitter feed is stable at 621 followers and Instagram is growing steadily with 704 followers
Our event websites top most popular pages this week are in order of numbers of hits:
Event Calendar
2020 Gallery
Classifieds
and Jaguar Experience

Why not check out our event website at JaguarForumsUK - The Great British Day Out for Jaguar Owners, check your favourite Jaguar Club is listed in the register and sign your Jaguar up for our biggest ever Great British Day Out...

It's a Wednesday and we are halfway through the week :-)

Quite a bit has been going on so far, primarily background work which isn't obvious, so I thought I would update you with what we are up to this week, regarding our event.

Our event website has been changing (for the better), and we have for the first year ever a Jaguar Mark IX attending - a massive Thankyou to Alan Mobbs for registering his Mark IX for this years event. So we now have Jaguars from 1959-2020 attending, an incredible 61 years of Jaguar production :-)

We are currently in discussion with two more clubs/forums that I am hoping will agree to be onsite to meet you, and another incredible potential specialist sponsor that we are hoping will come onboard.

Our event is growing steadily with Jaguars registering for this years event, and in terms of what our event can offer you. We can now link you with everything from specialist companies, to track experiences, to forums and clubs and more.. even on the day itself you can now get group discount on tours and tasting sessions at Denbies, we will have a number of discount codes in place for your Welcome Packs, specialists offering talks, some work performed on site, and you can even go home with must-haves at show prices, may win a great prize in the prize draw at the end of the day, or maybe one of the class awards we have for the day..

So go on, why not give our grass roots Jaguar event a try? ALL Jaguars are equally welcome whether you have a cherished classic, customised or modified, school run, project, or a just about kept on the road Jaguar like mine - we are a friendly crowd with an incredible can-do attitude and you will be made very, very welcome :-)

And don't forget we are not-for-profit and support both the RNLI & The Rotary Club - two incredible causes :-)

OK everyone, We have made it to the end of another week, and are now getting very close to the date of our Great British Day Out for Jaguars, this May 24th.

Ionut Shupy has been running the weekly trivia quiz this week with some interesting questions for everyone, and will be announcing the winners later today on our event Facebook group, a massive Thankyou to him for getting involved with helping all of us (me very much included) learn a little more about our favourite marque - Jaguar!

Our event website has started listing clubs and forums worldwide (including here of course :-)) in a new Club Register, and the feedback especially from our worldwide followers has been very positive.

People have been steadily signing up Jaguars for the event and we have everything from an incredible Mark IX right through to an XJ220, a D-Type, Project 7 & 8's and more - spanning 61 years of production.

I am still working hard in the background to encourage takeup of club allocated areas, trade & club plots and setup partnerships with more clubs than ever.

The Rotary Club are currently in discussions with Soraya regarding the Marshaling for the day, and I am close to making a start on the supporting paperwork you will all need on the day..

If you haven't signed up for our ninth event yet, please do.. you will will be helping us reach our target of 300 Jaguars on the day, and helping us not only build an even better event for you, but also helping us to support the RNLI & the Rotary Club, noting that we are a not-for-profit event.

If you are wondering what our event offers - we offer far more than almost any other annual grassroots event out there - prizes, awards, talks, unlimited advice, a convoy & main event, show prices, connecting you with suppliers, clubs, forums, specialist repairers, an event website at JaguarForumsUK - The Great British Day Out for Jaguar Owners with archive photos, threads, info, club register and more, a Telegram chat group with all the event chat and news, and an active Facebook group you can get involved in. If you have attended our previous events you will see a huge improvement with this years event - streamlined registration, more marshals than ever, more trade stands and club participation, and we already have 61 years of production signed up! :-) Oh yes, I forgot - you can also book discounted tours and experiences with Denbies to enjoy on the day, and if you need accomodation we have a unique discounted all inclusive accomodation deal for attendees so you can even make a wekend of it :-)

So go on, why not give our event a go, and treat yourself and your Jaguar to a great day out?

Here are the stats on where we are so far, so you know exactly how things are :-)

Our forum threads for this years event have hit an incredible 28,259 hits
We currently have 77 Jaguars spanning 61 years of production and 147 attendees signed up
We have 21 incredible event sponsors
We have 10 trade stands booked
We have 1 community stand booked
We have 5 Club stands, and 3 Club allocated areas booked
We have 7 great Awards you could win inc some fun ones
Our event Facebook page now has 4956 friends
Our Facebook group is growing and now has 831 members
Our event Twitter feed is stable at 621 followers
Our Instagram account is growing steadily and has 727 followers
& our LinkedIn account is connected to 500+ professionals and companies.

I was told by a very good friend some years ago that an event should only take a few months to pull together, and to watch my work/home/event balance - I listened and then ignored everything lol but we do now have a unique event for everyone, that truly encompasses ALL Jaguars from ALL walks of life, a MASSIVE THANKYOU to everyone who has helped us to get to where we are today!

You will also note we are still short of our aim for 300 Jaguars - so if you haven't signed up yet please do - you will be made very welcome and be helping us not only keep our sponsors attending our event, but also supporting two incredible charities whilst having a Great Day Out :-)

And everything we do, we do manually, keeping our event costs to a minimum as we are very much a grassroots event - our only ethos is to support Jaguar owners, putting youy in touch with the incredible support network out there.

Steve,

I can't help thinking SUMMARY is a more appropriate word to use than BREAKDOWN. The latter really is tempting Providence in connection with Jaguars.

LOL, and don't I know it :-) This year we have a huge range of Jaguars for everyone to meet plus the clubs and forums (that reminds me I must get the JaguarForums.com banner from Jim nearer the time as I am representing JaguarForums.com as always :-)), and we have everything from one man specialist companies through to international companies with event teams and trailers, more awards than ever including cleanest engine bay and best exhaust tone, a live version of the events weekly quiz, and more - attendees can get group discount on tours & experiences at Denbies on the day, discounted lunch, and not only have we managed to get a great deal on all inclusive accomodation but if anyone is Jaguarless on the day they will be teamed up with an attending Jaguar - and we are already doing that for a Canadian couple that are over for the event after seeing it listed over there :-)

Meanwhile, whilst a lot of what needs organising has now been done, I am very aware of the clock ticking down and a long list of jobs to do yet lol.. you know the series 'Twilight Zone'.. well, the last couple of months before the event are usually my 'Panic Zone' lol I am sure everything will come together *but*.... :-)

I still can't believe that 2021 will be the 10th anniversary event - LOL.. absolutely incredible just how much support we have for the event :-) and it only started because I was asked to consider getting six Jags together one wet & grey December day on Brighton seafront :-)

A Happy Tuesday to everyone - yes, I know Wednesday is hump day, which means we aren't there yet.. but it is better than a Monday - honest :-)

Ok things are still happening fast regarding our event, so it's time for a mini update for everyone :-)

Our event, as you know exists with the ethos of supporting all Jaguars, from every walk of life and financial situation, connecting owners with the incredible support network out there, which includes this forum that you are now on reading this. Always grassroots, always doing what we can for everyone :-)

Well, we have not only had quite a few recent registrations for our 2020 event but have also been expanding what we do.. we now have an Independent Specialist Register on our event website, running alongside our Club/Forum Register meaning you can access not just clubs and forums that Jaguar owners frequent but also suppliers of parts, services, and more. Meaning that our event now connects you to more of the Jaguar ecosystem than ever :-)

We need your help though.. we are looking for 300 Jaguars this year, so if you haven't registered yet please do, and help us achieve our target for this year, also if you frequent a club or forum that the event website doesn't list yet, or want to recommend a company that has gone above and beyond with your Jaguar care please just drop me a line at stephen.sheldon@jaguarforumsUK.com

Ok, a little info for anyone considering registering for our event - we are not-for-profit, we work with forums, clubs, and specialists connecting you with them. We receive no financial help from them, all help they are happy to supply comes directly through to attendees not to the event. We support both the RNLI and the Rotary Club meaning that registrations for our event enable us to help them help others. We have managed seven years without any investment being grassroots, but this year have already have streamlined registration, have increased our marshaling to help on the day, have new signage, have really developed our event website for you, kicked off our now very active Facebook group, and have started a Telegram chat group with the latest advance news, info and more about the event as we go.

On the day of our Great British Day Out for Jaguar Owners we offer:

Convoy/Drive element
Main event at Denbies Wine Estate
Show Prices
Talks
Prize Draw
Awards
Real Life fun version of our weekly Trivia Quiz
Trade stands
Club/Forum Stands
Community Stands
Club allocated areas
Discounted lunch
Fixed price accomodation if needed for overnighters
If you are Jaguarless on the day we team you up with an attending Jaguar
You can meet Jaguars spanning over 60 years of production including some rare and unusual models

After your registration everything except food/drink is included - even the Prize draw, making us incredible value - and ALL Jaguars are equally welcome and in with a chance at things on the day.

So go on, we genuinely have a grassroots event for you that is literally a Great Day Out for Jaguar Owners - join us this year :-)

OK, as you know our Great British Day Out for Jaguar Owners is coming up this May 24th, and there are still a number of things to get into place.. I need to get the supporting paperwork designed and printed, to finalise the registration process of arriving attendees for the Marshals, to encourage more Jaguar owners to register for what is truly our biggest event ever, to obtain tressle tables, a tent, more signage, try to budget in windscreen stickers, and then collect in all the prizes, double check awards, assemble the Welcome Packs and more..

However there is also a couple of things it would be fantastic if you could do for our event..

If you have used an Independent Jaguar Specialist for parts, servicing, repairs or upgrades that went beyond what you would expect and you are happy to recommend them please email their details to me at stephen.sheldon@jaguarforumsuk.com and I will add them into the events 'Specialist Register' and you eill be helping other Jagsters to find the best specialists out there. The more people that recommend any one company, the more stars that company gains enabling Jagsters to rate them in popularity.

If you are a member of, or run a club or forum and it is not yet listed in our 'Club/forum Register' please let me know & I will get it added.

And finally, we have a target of 300 Jaguars for this years event - this is because we are building up to a showstopper 10th anniversary event in 2021 - yep my one off six Jag meet has really been around that long!! I still can't believe it :-) and we need to ensure we have a reasonable footfall for not just this years attending trade and club stands, but also to encourage more trade and club stands for 2021.. so please, please sign your Jaguar up for our event and help us to give you the best annual grassroots Jaguar event in the South East UK :-)

OK guys, As of this afternoon our Jaguar event has achieved a milestone :-) and I would like to Thank everyone involved with our event, whether you are on our event team, sponsoring, supporting or attending our event - as without you all we would not have managed this :-)

As you know our events aim has always been to connect you with the incredible support network available to you, of which this forum is a part. Well, as of this afternoon our event has completed that aim.. we now have a club/forum register, a specialists register, a growing event calendar and can now put you in touch with everything you need to help you look after and enjoy your Jaguar. We are working with clubs, forums, and specialists right round the UK and have started to pick up links for you globally so you can connect to what and who you need wherever you are..

Thankyou for your support as our event has developed - we are now working on adding more links, expanding our annual get together, and developing our links with the bigger eco system out there.. please consider registering your Jaguar for this years event - you will get a chance to meet the team behind our event, win prizes, awards, attend talks, meet over 60 years of Jaguar production, see an incredible array of models, meet specialists, obtain full dealership support, and even take part in our first ever live version of our weekly trivia quiz *and* you will helping us to help the RNLI & the Rotary Club make a difference out at sea and in the local community..
