Hi my 53 plated X Type 2.0d will not turn over.
I have recharged the battery and the alarm system is working, the lights on the dash are OK, but when i try to turn it over it just attempts then stops, it does not even fire, all the lights except the airbag light go out but the airbag light stays on but very dim.There seems to be lots more clicking going on also after i stop trying to turn the engine.
I have checked the fuses they are OK , i have used the battery on my Rover 75 2.0d and it starts the Rover first time,every time. I am wondering what the problem may be, could it be the battery ? Even though it starts the Rover, or is it the starter motor or something else.
It will jump start and runs fine no issues with fuel it does not cut out or backfire, infact it is just like it always is, but once turned of it will not start again. (Although it has done twice,with a ratio of around one in thirty attempts). It has recently had a new belt ,tensioner and crank pulley fitted about a month ago , could it be related ?
Any advice is welcome
