Default Winter Tires

I will be purchasing a 2017 - 2019 F-Type R and I will need winter tires because I live in the CHI. I called Tire Rack, but I was told that they normally carry 20” Pirelli winter tires but are out of stock. A couple of questions.
  1. Should I go down an inch or two in wheel diameter for my winter tires? This is what I did when I last purchased winter tires for my current vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz CLK 550 Cabriolet.
  2. Besides looking on this board, where can I look for suitable winter tires?
Thanks in advance!

Lou

Low profile, wide winter tires don’t work for me. Too much hydroplaning in poor wet, slippery road conditions. Even in the Land Rover I’ve gone down to 17s for the winters. On the XKR I have 20s for my summers, 19s for the all seasons (spring and autumn) and 18 for the winters. Also as the car calls for a staggered stance I purposely ignored that for my winter’s... the result: I frequently take the xkr to the ski hills in the winter when I head up alone, in any weather, and many a wrx can’t lose me on those windy, slushy roads ;-)
Incidentally, you may find the smaller size for winter tires described in your owners manual.
Cheers!

Actually, am having my dealer mount and balance a full set of 20-inch Pirelli Sottozero winter tires with these O.Z. Racing wheels
