Custom Paint Shop
Looking for a custom paint shop that specializes in luxury imports, jags, etc.
I have a Gold 2000 Jaguar XJ8, I wish to paint it flat black. Ive gotten mixed reviews on the color of choice and suggest that I just keep the current paint color. Any advice!?
Current City: Douglasville ( 20 mins outside of atlanta )

I own a custom shop in Florida and painted my XK8 flat black. Be sure your shop uses a base/clear system (single stage flat paint gets "ashy" looking pretty quickly). I used House of Kolor flattener on mine, it's nice however I prefer the PPG pre-flexed flat clear as it lays out much nicer and gives a slightly "wetter" appearance (more $$ though).
I love my Jag in flat black, and I find others love it or hate it. The vast majority is in the "love" category (and many people think it's something more exotic than a Jag until I tell them what it is). There are purists who ask me how I could desecrate a Jag, but I had the same questions when I painted my Chevy SSR flat black and expect the same questions when I paint the 71 Vette I am working on. My favorite color is flat black! From a tech standpoint, gun tracks will be your biggest issue to watch for with flat clear. You can wax flat clear to preserve your paint job just like regular clear, but you cannot sand and buff it if there are imperfections (it will get shiney) - you must re-shoot.
Here are some pics of my XK8 (House of Kolor) and SSR (PPG) so you can see the different levels of flat (check out my website www.sinisterkustoms.com for more). If I can help you at all don't hesitate to ask.
