I imagine my wife will tag along. We generally spend Saturdays together.

Default Transmission Service (Newbie Owner)

Hello everyone. This is my first Jaguar, I have been driving BMW's for some time, and found a Jaguar S Type that I had to have, been wanting one since I was a kid.

I do have a question for some advice. In BMW's as most know, they claim that you never have to change the fluid in the transmission. I have heard it both ways on the Jaguar, I have a 2005 S Type, the transmission was replaced at 40K miles from Jaguar, apparently there was a humming noise in the previous one, and the previous owner finally got Jaguar (Hennessy) to replace it. Its now just over 100K miles, the car is immaculate in and out. So I want to baby this car as much as I can.

With that, do you folks recommend changing the fluid out and if so, how many miles?

Also, a good Jaguar service place not called a Dealer. I stopped over at a place called Scott's up here in upper Alpharetta that some of the folks here at Northside Hospital take their cars to and this place gets great reviews. Thoughts, advice?

Thanks for any help,

Tim

Morning Tim!

Welcome to the forum. You would get more attention to your question in the S-type specific forum:

S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

. . . and some administrator is going to come along shortly and ask you to introduce yourself in the New Member area:

New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

My answer to your question is that ZF recommends 60k mile fluid changes never mind what Jaguar says.

Thanks man! Rocco's wants $375 for ONE! Haven't checked Enzo's. I don't have the tools or I would do it- it's sooo accessible. If you have the gumption, tools and desire for $$ or JW high end let me know, I'm over by Murdock Elementary - like soon
Gotta drive it this week.

I can also offer barter executive level business planning, financial, BA/BI to guitar lessons- knowledge transfer is always better than a one time payment! That's an open offer for anyone else - glad to assist:-)

I'll make the next one - daughter's car got towed to Kennesaw Wrecker - so I was predisposed to pay the man $165

Hi Tim (and all) - I would also add that Rocco's and Scott Delong's Auto are in the same building (strip on Post Oak Tritt) competing Jag shops - love it.

i.e. SD wouldn't do 1 VC gasket, only 2 for 6-700, Rocco's will do 1 for 375.

Check Advance Auto Parts for the gasket kit from FelPro for a 2002 Lincoln LS 3.9L. I know it to fit the '00 - '03 XK/XJ. Don't know about the '05. Using the discount code TRT30 it is less than $50.
