We would like to invite everyone to join us for "An Evening with Steve Matchett" presented by Mecum Auctions. This will be during the Concours weekend at Amelia Island.
Steve was a mechanic with the Benetton Formula 1 team from 1990 to 1998. In that time he prepared cars for such racing greats as Nelson Piquet, Riccardo Patrese, Martin Brundle, Johnny Herbert, Gerhard Berger, Jean Alesi, and not to mention Michael Schumacher during his first two World Championship seasons in '94 and '95.
In more recent years, you will remember Steve as an F1 commentator for both SPEED and NBC Sports along with Leigh Diffey, David Hobbs, Bob Varsha, and Will Buxton. He is also an accomplished author, including his "F1 Trilogy" of books - "Life in the Fast Lane", "The Mechanic's Tale", and "The Chariot Makers".
For the first time ever, Steve will be reading his story "Always Ferrari" from his latest book "These Desired Things". The event will include a three-course dinner at The Fernandina Beach Golf Club with the story being read in three separate parts between courses. Everyone attending will be presented a special signed edition of the story.
As this will be an intimate setting, we will have a strict limit of 50 attendees and will sell out. After two full house events in our home of Charlotte, NC, one in Knoxville, TN, and one in Jacksonville, FL, this will be our third taking Steve's readings "on the road".
