2013 Fair Lakes, VA C & C (Kohl's) Thread
In order to keep thread sizes reasonable, I am opening a new thread for the Cars & Coffee held every Sunday at Fair Lakes shopping center in Virginia.
This is the shopping center with Dick's Sporting Goods and Kohl's. We hold this event in front of the Starbucks.
For reference purposes, here is a link to the 2012 Fair Lakes Cars & Coffee thread -

It's a new year, and we started off with a very good one. Clear skies and brisk temperatures didn't keep many away, as you will see.
There was already one newcomer on the lot when I got there at 8:00AM.
We had three Jaguars in attendance this week, so that was pretty good. A very good variety of vehicles represented.
Who can guess what that white vehicle is in the last picture?

Actual weather, as well as the weather that forecasts predict, have an effect on Cars & Coffee events. We're early in January, so the predicted 70F day meant many of us were very excited about today. Well, the reality today was quite different. it was foggy today, like it was yesterday morning. When I got to Fair Lakes a bit before 8:00AM today, the temperature was 47F. That does not sound bad for January, but the fog and overcast made for an uncomfortably chilly morning. Still, the hope of a nice Sunday brought a lot of people out, even though the fog meant the attendees took a while to arrive, and some left early.
New Forum member Bobert showed up with his new purchase, a Jaguar XKR. We had 3 XK's in attendance! Congrats on the purchase, Bob!
A large turnout of Mopar folks (lots of Challengers, and a couple of Vipers). Regulars in Corvettes, Porsches and BMWs. Ed C in his Noble. Chris C in his GTR. Glen drove his Maserati.
I always say that it takes actual rain or snow to stop these events, and today proved that. Now, we need to get more Jaguars to attend these events.

3 XKs again this week. Ed left the area to move to Vegas, but new attendee Glenn F. brought his black XK8 convertible, joining me in my '07 XK Coupe. Bobert drove his '05 XKR Coupe.
We did have someone show up in a new XJ-L, but he was just stopping by for coffee. Other than that, the variety we expect.

A cold but clear morning - it was 29F when I got to Fair Lakes at 7:45AM. Wind was light to nonexistent, roads were dry, but some salt remained. Still, we had good attendance today. No Ferraris, but Glenn brought his Maserati, Bobert had his XKR, and lots of people talking cars.
If you have time some Sunday morning, between 8:30AM - 10:30AM, it's worth your while to stop by. Location is Market East Shopping Center, Fair Lakes. Mapquest or NAV system, put in the address for the Kohl's -
12551 Fair Lakes Circle
Fairfax, VA 22033
Note: For the third week in a row, we had three Jags in attendance. Bobert and I attended all 3 weeks, but we've had three different 'fillings' in our XK 'sandwiches'! This week, we welcomed Clint, who is the President of the Nation's Capital Jaguar Owners Club, who drove his Oyster XJS V12 - nice! More Jags in attendance would be great!

I have heard of people doing that but never seen one in person.. I'd imagine as lightweight as those things are they must fly down the road once converted! They also make some amazing looking kits for those things.. Always wanted to pick up a cheap one and get a kit but nowhere near being in my budget lol

I've just come across this thread and I've been a forum member for over a year!!!! In my defense I automatically load the XK/XKR forum when I connect. I'm the proud owner of a 2007 XK coupe in indigo with only 16,000 miles. I've often wondered if there was a get together in this part of the world and now I know. It's a bit of a treck for me from New Market in MD but I'll try and make it one of these Sundays. What really caught my eye (besides the Jags) are the pictures of the MK1 Lotus Cortina and the MK2 Ford Cortina. As a Brit born in the 60's this was my dream car as a young boy.

We have quite a streak going - we have only had one rainout so far this year, last week, 02/03/13. With that exception, we have had 3 Jaguars in attendance each of the 5 other Sundays at Fair Lakes. Bobert & I have brought our XKs out each of those weeks, but the third Jaguar has been brought by 4 different owners. This week, Alan H. drove his silver XK convertible. Eventually, we will have more than 3 Jags in attendance, I'm sure of it!
