Fair Lakes, 04/06/14
A cool, clear morning brought out a real crowd. The third picture is piles of snow next to our parking lot, left over from snowstorms 3 or more weeks ago. Some of these piles are still well over 3 feet tall.

BTW, see my announcement of the Jaguar event at this same venue, to be held Sunday, May 4th:

Perfect weather = large turnout. That first picture is the Fair Lakes lot at 8:24AM. Unfortunately, the only Jaguar representation there was Bob Williams' Lister-Jaguar. Let's bring out the Jags for the event here on Sunday, May 4th...

The big news was the 'A Pride of Jaguars' event today, with 36 jaguars in attendance. Read about that here -

There was a normal (though large) turnout of non-Jaguar cars. Here are the few that I had time to snap:

If you haven't been to Fair Lakes lately (or ever), you owe it to yourself to come out and see what comes out nowadays. It's really grown, and always features lots of variety, and organized groups of marques scattered around the venue. Bob Williams' Lister Jaguar was the only Jag representation today.
An interesting side note - someone noticed that the two Porsche 930's parked next to each other in the last picture had VINs 2 digits apart! Siblings from the assembly line!

All in all, a pretty good turnout, but it was smaller than recently, probably because of the overcast. It never rained, and we had a great time.
Eric Z came by with his Moal Zephyr, a custom-built rod on a '34 Ford frame, with a modern Buick V8. Here's a link to this car, on Moal's website -
34 Zephyr
Only two Jaguars there, an F-Type that was only there for coffee, and Bob W's Lister-Jaguar replica.

The car on the right in the 4 Ferraris picture belongs to my friend (and JaguarForums member) Bobert, and it's a 550 Maranello. It's an AMAZING car - front-engine V12, 199mph top speed, terrific looks, and sounds fantastic! It was a very expensive car when new, but they can be had as low as $65,000, according to the latest valuations. The full service on the engine would make your eyes water, though.

Fair Lakes, 07/13/14 - I.J.D.!
I talked to a couple of Jaguar-owning friends at Katie's on Saturday, and we decided to see how many Jags we could bring out to Sunday's Fair Lakes gathering. As it turns out, putting the word out to my Jaguar email list, and posting on the JaguarForums website, with less than 24 hours advance notice, we had at least 12 Jaguars turn out. This was a lot of fun!
Happy Impromptu Jaguar Day!

Last week's great showing of Jags seems to have 'spent' the enthusiasm of our group. Bob Williams, and his Lister Jaguar replica was the only representation of Jaguar at today's event.
This event has grown tremendously. The first picture is the lot at 9:39AM.
There was plenty to see...

Although the morning was overcast, it never rained, so it stayed reasonably cool for this first Sunday in August. I really liked the Alfetta Sprint Veloce. The Smart with the SLR nose and gullwing doors belongs to a friend of mine. He's having fun with it.
The only Jaguar I saw today was Steve's F-Type.
