Weather makes a big difference in the turnout at any car event, and ours is no different. There was intermittent light drizzle around the area early this morning, so attendance was lighter, and later-arriving. The first picture is the lot at 7:34AM. Even with the lighter turnout, we pretty much filled the front lot, and then some. We had a couple of interesting Jaguars there.

What do you get when you combine perfect, top-down weather with a Saturday morning? Great turnout at Katie's, including some really nice Jaguars (and others). We continue to bring in vehicles we have not seen before - every week!
Some pretty good people-watching, too.

A holiday weekend, with a perfect-weather Saturday. That's the recipe for a crowd at Katie's, and we had one. Check out what the front lot looked like at 6:36AM.
Old, new, classic, exotic, custom... even a tractor. You're not a Car Guy (or Gal) if you can't find something that fascinates you here.

Lots to see this morning. It astounds me that, after 4 years of 'official' existence, Katie's Cars & Coffee continues to bring out new attendees. We see new people and vehicles, very nearly every single week!
Jaguar attendance was lighter than usual, but quality of the Jags was very good.

Another terrific turnout. Better-than-usual variety, and new cars... and that's saying something at this venue!
Several Jaguars. The XKE has a plexiglass windblocker. There were not one, but two F-type V8 Coupes.
Juxtaposed, we have a 1980 HMV Freeway microcar, across from a Ferrari F40.
The last picture was my favorite today. The GMC cabover tow truck looked to me like it belonged in the Pixar movie 'Cars'. In my mind, it has Patrick Warburton's voice.

..That is hardly a crappy BMW... You must have gotten there pretty early for that parking spot. I got there at 5:45AM, but was only the 4th or 5th car there, with my Lotus. Here's the best shot I have of your car.
Hope to see you next week!

The weather report threatened rain, but despite an overcast all morning, it never rained a drop at Katie's. Even so, turnout was lighter than it has been.
True to form, there were cars there we had not seen before. It's amazing how this happens, every week. I certainly had not seen the '56 Dodge Coronet, nor the Cadillac ELR before. I think I had seen the Fiat Dino 2000 Coupe before, a couple of times.
As for Jaguars, we had a Series III E-Type OTS, an XK-140 Coupe, and three modern XKs.

One of the most amazing aspects of the Great Falls Cars & Coffee event (Katie's), is the near-certainty that there will be one or more cars there that none of us have seen before. Below are the cars that were there for the first time today... I base this on my observations (I am there pretty much every week), but it is possible that I have not included some first timers there today. If so, my apologies...

A strange confluence of events this Saturday; overcast skies, with threat of rain. This kept many folks away. But - there was a charity car show up in Harrisburg, PA, and lots of people used Katie's as a starting point for that event. Overall, the amount of cars and people were down, but the quality did not disappoint. See for yourself.

Katie's History
Katie's in Great Falls, VA is now well-known for having a good collection of a great variety of quality cars, with cars we haven't seen before, pretty much every week. While it wasn't always as large as it is now, it did get a pretty good start. Here are some pictures I started taking, back in 2009, before Katie's C & C even officially started.
To give you an idea of what the mix of cars was back then, as well as what the C & C starting time was, here are some old pictures:
1.) 10/31/09, 8:46AM - My first visit to Katie's. This is the entire attendance that day. Peter G's fire engine, Alan's Elise, my Elise, and a classic Mini. Still, it stuck in my mind, and I went back in Spring of 2010.
2.) 03/06/10, 9:33AM - I return to Katie's, and what a difference in attendance! Several Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Jaguars, and always a Lotus or two.
3.) 04/03/10, 9:51AM - The first 'official' Katie's C & C. One of my favorite pictures, since I love Miuras. Note that the parking lot is clearing out for the day. We got there no earlier than 7AM, and were gone well before 10AM.
4.) 03/27/10, 8:16AM - Yes, we got pretty exotic stuff, even way back then!
5.) 04/03/10, 9:02AM - A pretty good indication of how many quality vehicles we got, from the start.

A holiday weekend is as good as any excuse to bring your car out to Katie's Cars & Coffee. Lots of people did just that!
Special mention: XKE owner Cheryl F. just bought a '57 Chevy restomod at an auction out west. She brought it to Katie's today.
Oh, and a fair number of Jaguars there today, too!
