XJR sunroof elimination

XJR sunroof elimination
Hi folks,
I dearly want to own a 2000-ish XJR but I'm tall and need one without a sunroof.
I've seen countless XJR's with sunroofs, none without. I need the ~ 2" extra headroom.
Has anyone had any experience with converting a roof from sunroof to without sunroof?
Is this even reasonable?
Thx, J

Jaggerwocky, I believe that the sunroof was standard on the car. So, all of the cars are going to come with one. Could there be one out there without a sunroof, anything is possible. BUt, you are looking for the needle in a haystack.
As for converting a car. Can it be done. I am sure it can. The question is, what will it cost you? I can see a shop charging you around $3000-4000 to do this sort of job. I would not think it would be a hard job, just a lot of work that needs to be done as you have to remove the headliner which in most cases is going to involve removing the front windshield. From there, you have all the welding to close the hole. Then you have the time of fabricating a new headliner to cover up the hole. Getting a new headliner just recovered can be $800. So, I think my cost estimate is reasonable.
The best advice that I can tell you is that if you are dead set on getting an XJR and cost is not an object, run by a body shop and pose the question to them. See what they tell you. I am sure they can give you a ballpark idea. Now, do not be surprised if they give you a quote like $6000+ for the job. This is where you have to then ask "Is what I want worth what the cost is"? This modification is going to be almost the worth of the car. This is where you may want to consider a 2011+ car that may have more head room or you are looking at having to go with a completely different car.
