Default Hello from this Island Girl in cold Michigan

Just wanted to introduce myself to the group. I just purchased my 1st Jag. 2005 X-Type 3.0

I will welcome any information about the car since I am slowly but surely learning more about it since I like to be informed. This is my dream car so I am very excited!

Could anyone let me know what type of gas do they use for them? I have read different things and want to make sure I am getting the right type.

Adios!

I use premium, I figure for the extra 3-4 bucks per fill up is worth it. Welcome aboard.

Thanks everyone...I have been using the Premium so far. I love my car. I am looking to get it painted since I have noticed a few lil spots that need paint, so it can be sparkling shinny !!! That is my new baby.. lol

Congrats on your proud purchase. With a little love your Jag will give you years of great safe and Fun transportation. My 03 has 160,000 plus miles on it in spite of being driven hard. It is my go to car in Michigan winters with it's great traction. Much Luck! Al

Hi Cerica,
You have made a fab decision and i wish you many humble congratulations in your quest, I think you may have fresh ambitions and a renewed vigour in life following your great discovery!
The 05 model is fab, a great engine and although I cannot see if it's the Sport Model or the SE or sovereign, you will find it truly amazing, the all wheel drive is well capable and will put quite a few SUV and Jeep type 4x4 in the doldrums and indeed the shade.
The 05 model in particular and later derivatives had a lot of gliches taken out and you have a Lovely car that has the ability to be really devious when it comes to capability.
I don't have that model mow, but that's a long story due to a sad mishap, but I have an earlier 52 (2002) Sport Model 2.5 and it's Fantastic!
I don't often go with the crowd but the guys are right in recommending Premium fuel as not only is it better it is more fuel-efficient too and I would go further than that and advise for the best potential you avoid supermarkets as their own budget fuels are more prone to being tainted and less pure (in my humble opinion!)
The 05 model along with being looked after and maintained will go the extra mile for you and the AWD is rock-solid!
Checking fluids and having a walk-around makes my day as you spot things as well, if you have a nice car why get in and go, yes when you need to, but it's true if you look after the car the vehicle will not let you down.
Be fussy, you like your car, be proud and don't settle for second best, sometimes if you feel that the garage isn't up to scratch, then vote with your feet, I do feel there is a big difference when dealing with different garages from the Fleet Garages to local sites, you can sometimes be better off with a local guy who has knowledge and demonstrates care for your car rather than a company garage who think they know better. At the end of the day it's only my opinion Cerica, but hey it's your car!! If you smell a rat, there is usually something up and anyhow, you went with your judgement and bought this car!!

Cerica, be Happy, the Cat that got the cream! Enjoy your Dream and we look forward to your next post, may your next journey be something special in Your J A G U A R!
All the Best, Stu

Hello Cerice, I have a 2003 with too many hard miles on it. I live in rural Michigan and count on the four wheel drivetrain to get me to work all winter. My summer car is an XK. Both well over 150 miles. It is over 3 miles of dirt road to my home, so the suspensions need constant work and touch up for paint chips. You will find your purchase a safe reliable and downright pretty decision. Best wishes.
