1999 xj8l fail to start

Hello,

I'm a newbie to the forum I own a 99 xj8l. She wont start unless I pump the accelerator and hold. I keep getting a random missfire and a vvt code.
has anyone else experienced this?

Hi it sounds like the vvt is not returning to its base. I have seen the hard starting before did you have the timing chian up date done . Where in nj are you I could look at it if you want I have been working on jags since the early 80"s Steve
