Bumper Repair in New Jersey
Hi,
I sustained some very minor front bumper damage when my car was parked in a parking lot. With no exaggeration the defect is the exact shape of a quarter. The paint inside the "quarter" is "wrinkled." The bumper is not torn and is fully attached to the car.
I know that there are sub contractors that dealer's use to repair minor body damage from either lease turn ins or to "clean up" minor body damage when trying to sell a used car. I brought car to two collision shops who both told me that entire bumper would need to be repainted which is nonsense and I would not consider this for a blemish so small.
I live in central New Jersey between Freehold and Princeton. Does anyone know of any companies that do this kind of work and at a reasonable price?
Thank you.
Ed

Thanks Thanguar,
i was persistent because I had seen the work that these dealer mobile units used and I found a guy who is a subcontractor to most of the high end car lines in New Jersey.
He had me meet him at a Maserati dealer on a Saturday where he was working for the day and asked me for my paint code so that he could pick up a can of paint. He stocks many paint colors but did not have mine. (Jaguar Caviar)
When I met with him he pointed out that from this minor mishap the actual bumper had a hole the size of a quarter. He told me not to worry because he would be able to fill this hole with bumper filler. I waited in the waiting room and in just a little over an hour he came out to get me saying that he was finished. I went outside and could not believe what I saw. A simply outstanding repair that is not visible at all. I am not very knowledgeable about auto body work but I believe that after filling in the bumper hole he did a spot paint and clear coat. To this date no one is able to tell that this area was repaired. Simply outstanding and he was the nicest guy in the world. He said that this repair should be permanent and to call him if any problems arise. This work was done one month ago and people who saw the small defect are unable to tell that anything was repaired. He charged me $100 for this repair and it was the best $100 that I ever spent. He told me that he now has a new can of my factory paint and that I should call him if I ever need his services. I know that he does sub contracting work for; Lexus, Infiniti, Jaguar, Land Rover, BMW, etc...A different guy was going to charge me the same $100 but he said that he was going to use touch up paint with a brush which I did not want. The guy who I used did the job with a paint spray gun and it truly looks amazing.
It is truly a pleasure when you find someone who is talented, knowledgeable, takes great pride in their work, is very nice, and their price is reasonable.
I think that during the week he goes from dealer to dealer but on Friday's and Saturday's he does his own "side" jobs but also works on dealers cars. When I left him I saw that he had a few Lexus cars that he was working on for a dealer. The 3 body shops that I brought it to said that the entire bumper would need to be repainted and I even went to a Maaco who said that they could do a half a bumper for $375. Thanks but No Thanks. I thank you for your input.

I know your post goes back a bit, but do you by chance still have the contact information for the technician who did your bumper repair?
I'm in the same general area of NJ, and evryone wants to replace the entire bumper to address a small crack.
Hoping you have the info. Thanks.
