James here from Bernardsville (central) NJ. I didn't see my board name on the latest list, so I'll reintroduce myself :-)
I am an older guy who has owned over 40 cars so far, most of them special interest types.
My first Jag was my 2004 X-Type base sedan with the 2.5 engine and a 5 speed. I searched a long time for that car with the manual transmission, cleaned it up and fettle the various things that needed doing myself. It was my daily for 3 years. yes.until I came across a *stunning* 2001 XK8 for sale at the local VW dealer 1/2 a mile up the road! I closed that deal for an excellent price a year ago, sold my X-Type to my youngest son cheaply, and the XK8 became my daily, and it makes me smile every day since. My wife *loves* it, which is huge plus :-)
We enjoy the social aspect of meets, and would love to attend them
Just checking in. Got a 97 XK8 coupe outside of Boston (think Framingham/Holliston area)--haven't been able to drive it all year due to swapping out the tensioners and guides etc. but am hoping to get it back soon!
Long Island, NY here. Picking up my 1994 xjs v12 conv 2+2 from my mechanic tomm. Bought it about 2 weeks ago and its now road ready. Pretty curious how it will drive. Hoping it's what I expected.
Just took possession of a 1996 X300 XJ6 with 114,300 miles, no rust, everything electric works but losing it's clearcoat.
I'm gonna need an independent Jaguar guy. That for sure.
Anyone got any tips.
Greetings from the great city of Boston MA. My brother recently acquired a Triumph Stag with a 350 dropped in, and mentioned the seller also had a '94 or '95 Jaguar XJR that was very clean that he was looking to sell. My last foray into the British sports car scene ended badly with the TR7 and I swore off anything British (except my wife at that time). Any guys out there in this region looking to comment on their earlier XJR's ?
Seriously considering a chip with bypass tube for increased performance. Fab Performance in NE Pa says 60 HP increase. Anyone have experience in these mods?
I'm in Collegeville, PA about 45 mins west of Philly.
I have a 1974 XJ12L with a Corvette engine and transmission replacement.
It needs work, but it runs...
Hanover(South shore) Ma,love this car.got it with 119,000 for $2,000 5 or 6 yrs ago.had no running probs for almost 4 years, then came all the common problems.been researching and fixing them all pretty inexpensivelly, but now stumped with present issue of the last 4-5 days which i had posted here for help.just missed the run from Wendys in dedham area with a dead battery, but hope to make the next.
Hi everyone! Just purchased my first Jag. I wasn't even looking for one but after a visit to a local museum and seeing a 1952 Jag XK120 I wondered about what that car would be worth. I started a search and found my newest toy that I just "had to have". A Florida car with 46k miles 2000 XKR convertible in Phoenix Red. My wife and I have always wondered what it would be like to have a convertible and now we do. Just in time for winter. This will be our fair weather ride. After doing a lot of research since the purchase in September, I'm a bit worried about some timing chain and tensioner issues with this model. To do the job right, I think I will need a good service garage. I don't feel comfortable doing this myself. I live in Amsterdam, NY (about 30 miles west of Albany) Do anyone of you have suggestions for a good motor repair shop? I'm considering the dealer, but I know that will be pricey. Thanks for any info you can give me.
The other issues I've found with the car are minor and I should be able to take care of them myself.
Just started driving my 2005 S-type imported from Southern California this year (bought it in 2015). So if you see a black S-type sporting steelies and snow tires this winter, give a honk and a wave
