Default Northern NJ Jag shops: updates, recommendations?

Hi, all,

Is there an update on independent Jaguar shops in Northern New Jersey?

My XK8 needs a bit of TLC applied to its gear box; so far, my experience is that many Jaguar shops, who do the general maintenance, are not familiar with transmission work. I'd like to find someone who has experience with the intricacies of the ZF box and its controls.

Based on my past experience with other brands, I'd rather avoid the dealerships, as I am afraid that they will swap a $5k trans and only if that does not succeed, look at $5 corroded wire splices.

I looked at the "sticky" thread here and read several other posts and so far found the recommendations I listed below.

Are there any changes? Additions? Comments?

Thanks in advance! Robert.

"Authorized" in Flemington is a truly 1st-rate operation. George, the owner, is great to deal with. They have worked on my '01, and now my '03 XK-8s. 908-788-1982

There is a very experienced shop in Tenafly called (and run by a gentleman named) Udo's Automotive. They took care of my convertible top (it rained green juice all over...) and several other issues that I became aware of after purchasing my '01 XKR. They specialize in MB's, but they have several X-types they were working on and have a very knowledgable friendly albeit small team of mechanics.

+1 on "Authorized". I've heard great things about them and wouldn't hesitate to take either of my Jags in for service.

Have also heard good things about "Authorized" over the years. Never did venture into north Jersey to have work down really since I've just had routine maintenance performed (knock on wood). But have heard only good things from "Authorized" for a few years now
