Northern VA wants in
Hi !
I'll be checking in with the NE. I'm from the northern corner of VA, minutes from DC and MD and an hour or soto NJ & DE. Going south to NC is a hike.
Just bought by '05 XK8 and hope I don't need service for a long while. Any recommendations on service in the area will be appreciated. As for sales, I had a great experience with Manhattan Jaguar in Bethesda, MD. I can only hope there service is as good.

Hello luvmyk9
Thumbs up if the NE region increases in size to include VA and MD[sm=groupwave.gif]
Good luck to finding a good dealer. I'm new in the Jag world too. I was visiting the Manhattan Jaguar dealership in Bethesda this week to pick up a license plate bracket for my new/used 2005 S-Type R. The dealership was empty and I asked to speak with someone in their service department. When I did, their service department could take me with no wait if I needed service immediately.
I have never been to a dealership with absolutely no wait for service!
I did not have my new car with me since I was still trying to get temp tags. I just received my tags today and called Manhattan for service four times in a period of 60 minutes. I waited on hold for 3+ minutes (each time I called) and was never taken care of. I looked up the next closest dealer, which was in Clarksville MD, who gave me an appointment an hour later. I was there for a MD state inspection and I have no complaints about the visit. I worked with Jim in their service department. It'd be a very long drive for you but here is their contact info...
Jaguar West Columbia

BTW, I am going to be at Capital Raceway this Sunday from noon until 2:30 PM and may make a few passes to see what my STR will do compared to my BMW 540i 6-speed. I visit the track 2-3 times a year for some fun.

RE: Northern VA wants in
Thanks, another member sent me a PM suggesting Bethesda Jaguar so I think I will try them first. Calling first to be sure they are available. If not, and it's not a serious issue I might try the Davidson dealer you recommend.
The races sound like fun. I don't think I can make it this week but will keep an eye out for events; Drop me a PM when you plan to go, maybe we can get free and cheer for you.

Hey NOVA Fans, I'm new to the forum. Just got my first Jag and already got personalized plates. That's right, so if you're cruising through Tyson's Corner one evening and see a 06 XJ with the plates JAGGMAN in front of you, that's me. The extra G is for all the G's I hang with as I cruise the bars slamming red bulls and picking up drunk chicks. So if anyone is up for hanging out, PM me.
Cheers,
JaGG

I'm in McLean, my cabernet MY97 VDP is my daily driver to Skyline 5 in Falls Church. (Right now I'm putting mileage on my MY05 Honda S2000 roadster before I turn it in in Sept. when its lease is over.)
No vanity plate here, the car attracts enough attention all by itself. Its paint looks brand new and sometimes I catch folks admiring her.
I service the car at Intersport, the Porsche guys. They're not cheap but IMO it's always better to get your car serviced by technicians who race on the weekends as they tend to be perfectionists and notice the slightest problems!

Luvmyk9, welcome to the forums. I think you will like the people around here. As for where you are living, you are about an hour or so north of me. So, if you ever need some "backyard" maintenance done and want a nice drive, let me know. I'm sure we can get you hooked up and out the door for cheap. Then you can even get a true feeling for the condition of your car as you will have some personal time with your kitty.

Any particular tech and Manhattan that you've used and are happy with?

My dealer is Manhattan Jaguar. I have had some issues but none that have not been resolved. Now, I have a recall on my XF and the "low brake pad" light goes off and on. Elsewhere in this forum, that issue has been addressed.
I have two complaints with Manhattan Jaguar. One is the wash after service, everytime they give me the car soaking wet with no attempt made to dry it. I guess I should have them not wash it and do it myself. My second complaint is the "loaner" cars they provide. I have had to wait for 30 minutes for a loaner, either because they "ran out" of loaners or the Enterprise guy is overwhelmed. Frankly, the choice of "loaners" is pitiful, one day I wound up with an econobox that was dangerous to drive (I felt like Fred Flintstone).
I have never talked to a tech just the service advisor. I would recommend them for service because my complaints are personal issues and do not reflect on the overall treatment at the dealer.

Another Marylander looking for a (Regions) home here on the forums
Heya all! ...I too am in the MD/DC area, and do not find an exact "fit" here, in these forums.
I am active in the British Cars Community, mostly through Lotus Owners/enthusiasts groups - and regularly attend area shows (The Holy Donut in Burtonsville, Jimmy-Cone in Mt. Airy, Cars-n-Coffee in No. VA, etc.) with my son (Trevor, on here) as well.
So, there is no "Mid-Atlantic" Region?
Looks like our choices here otherwise are here (Northeast) or Southeast (NC)?
Time to stand up maybe in MD/DC/VA and be counted!!
Hope to have the opportunity to actually meet some of you soon, at one of the "local" events. I'll be either in the Radiance (Red) STR, pictured in my sig below, or my Exige-S Club Racer (ref my garage).
One thing I truly love about British cars (not just Jags) is the sense of COMMUNITY that also indelibly comes along with them.
Hit me up, if yer ever in the Sykesville (MD) area!
Cheers,
-Grant
