Prior damage affect price
Hi Guys,
I am a new member and on the hunt for my first Jaguar. I have found a low mileage '07 at a reasonable price. CarFax shows light damage to the left front of the car. A friend of mine (new car dealer) told me a car with any damage even light damage that has been fixed takes a hit in price because very few people will buy a car with previous damage.
Anyone care to offer their opinion on buying a used Jaguar with prior damage?
Thanks

Hmmm. I wonder how 'light damage' is defined?
If it's something like replacing a fender or bumper, and the repairs were properly done and look good, I wouldn't be too bothered, personally. Might be a chance to pick up a nice Jag at a bargain price?
I also wonder if, at 14 years old, the car is reaching a point where something like this might not make all that much of a difference in market price?
Cheers

If it is a STEEL bodied one then metal panel or plastic bumper repairs are not difficult. Parts are available and any bodyshops worthy of the name could carry out repairs to a perfectly satisfactory standard.
If is is an ALUMINIUM bodied model such as X150 two door or X350 four door, JLR restrict availabliity of body panels to approved repairers who are few and far between. An aluminium bodied Jaguar repaired by anyone outside this select group should be treated with great caution.
