Default Snow Tire recommendations?

Does anyone have any comments good or bad, about snow tires? Things are going to get slippery up here in NH pretty soon, was wondering if anybody had a brand recommendation for a 1998 XK8?

Default Bridgestone Blizzak WS60 for my XJ

I run my XJ8 on a set of General Tire Altimax HP in the spring/summer and Bridgestone Blizzak WS60 in the fall/winter. I love both and have had no issues. But my winters in Montreal (Quebec) may be different than yours in NH. You have to find a tire that fits your weather (ice, snow, both..) and driving style. I've always purchased online (tiresavings.com or tirerack.com) without any issues.

I shouldn't think that Montreal winter driving conditions are terribly different than NH, but I'm going to try the General Altimax Arctic studdabble snows. They are a little narrower than I'd like (235/45/17), but that's probably just as well in the snow. I'll update the post with an after snowstorm review, I know that they are going to be awfully lous on dry pavement, but we don't typically see a lot of that after december around here.

I've heard good feedback regarding the Bridgestone Blizzak winter tires. Personally, I don't drive my Jaguar when it snows... I go with my Jeep Grand Cherokee..

Yeah, on really bad days I'll use my Escalade ESV, but at 13 mpg vs 25+ for the Jag, I'm going to let the kitty play in the snow. Are the Bridgestone tires studdable?

Put on some studded General Arctic Altimax tires today, not really very noisy on the drive home, will update the forum on performance once the snows come!

A couple of years ago I ordered rims and Michelin Ice tire for my X350 from tire rack..
I ordered them at 3pm and the UPS truck pulled in at 9:30 the next morning with the tires and rims, all mounted and balanced.
I installed them and had peace of mind the last couple of winters. The traction is superb.

All 4 tires have to be identical on the X350 as one may already know.

I use Kumho all season, and they work pretty well.

Last year I bought a used Mercedes that came with Kumhos. The owner put them on in order to sell the car with good tires.
I have owned a couple of this identical model Mercedes before and they all had had European tires.

When I drive this car with Kumos it is awful. On curves you can tell the side walls are giving in and when I am pushing it, the late shifts cause the tires to chirp rubber sounds.
Everyone knows these old Mercedes diesels can't spin the rear tires even on ice never mind "chirp" rubber.

What spec tire is it? I have the ecsta and they seem to be fine in the snow. Maybe there are better, I don't know, but from a wet weather, and snow standpoint they are good. No they don't handle like perelli tires in the dry, but that should be expected.
