Jaguar mechanics near Spokane?
#2
I'm in Coeur D'Alene and posted a similar request on the forum a few years ago. This was the only response I received:
"I live not too far from Coeur d'Alene. For all my VW work I've always used Europro in Spokane, they do all European cars and I've been very happy with them. Also in Spokane is Eurohaus and Mechanic's Pride, both specialize in European cars including Jaguar. I haven't used either but have heard good things about both. I would suggest visiting each and see who you are more comfortable with. Spokane is less than 10 minutes away. Be sure to check out the car gatherings in Harrison during the summer (I live a few minutes away). They are usually classic car gatherings but really any cool car is welcome."
I haven't tried any of the mechanics cited.

Couple years ago, my 1974 OTS was vandalized, ignition, top, sugar in oil fill and gas talk, etc. Took her to Botzon’s in Spokane. Got charged for things they did not do, parts they did not order or install. She ran very rough when they finished and still does to this day. The one good Jag shop that I am aware of, (Tune Tech) no longer works on them. Have not found another in Spokane. Closest, I’m told, is in Seattle.

My latest experience with mechanics in Coeur d'Alene Idaho (AKA land of jacked up pick-up trucks with 23" offset rims)
Lead up: I needed the starter replaced on my 2004 XK8. Planning to do the job myself I bought a Denso starter for about $150. Once I crawled under the car I quickly realized that this was a job that would be far easier on a lift and journeyed out to find a mechanic that would swap the starter. I believe that I read somewhere that the standard labor hours for this job was 2 hours which seemed more than reasonable.
1. First shop where we have been taking our Ford Expedition for years: "that will be about $1,000, $400 for the part and $600 labor, no we cant use your starter. OK, bye
2. Second shop, one of the oldest in town: "we don't work on foreign cars. You might try XXXX who only does foreign cars"
3 Went to XXXX who only does foreign cars: "We don't work on Jaguar or Land Rovers. Anything else is OK"
ARRRRGH,I am not making this up!
Finally took it to my boat mechanic who ran it up his lift and swapped it out is less than 2 hours.
