I'll mail Growler.
I'm still here and have spent the last while prowling every highway and byway between here and Alberta. I have some great routes for a Canadian tour if anyone is game next year.
If I can line up all the ducks I will tag this one on to one of my trips. I will likely be bringing 2 more XK's with me if it works out and I will know my schedule in the next week.
Pencil 3 more in from the great white north.
What is the route going to be?

Hey hey Growler!

Hope your schedule lets you point south for this one! Biggest issue for you and your buddies is the day (Sunday). A late return to the Seattle side might be a tad rough if you all had to be home that night....

Still keep us posted!

Cool. We will be able to get the first ferry. Barring any hold up at the border we should make it by then.
Boat gets in at 7:00 - 90 min to Monroe from the ferry so we have 30 min to cross. Hope we get a border guard that likes Jaguars.
We can touch base once we cross the border and review the timing.

Cool

If our Canadian friends are on their way we will certainly wait for them to join us if need be. We'll just have to drive a little faster to make up for any lost time. Such a sacrifice! This is going to be the best drive ever, maybe a dozen or more big cats. I'm working on getting a couple more to join. Just got home from my 30K/2 year oil change and checkup, so I'm totally good to go.

It will be a very long day, but barring any issues, I am in. Any snow concerns that time of year?

Good morning everybody!

Recently joined the forum and just bought my first Jaguar, a beautiful 2001 XJR.

My wife and I would love to attend one of these events with you in the future.

It looks like A LOT of fun!

We would promise to be on our best behavior

We'd love to come, but I'll be in Chicago on that day.

Definitely next time!

So as the weather makes it's first grand appearance in the form of heavy rains and all day lightening /thunder, it brings to light a tough question for the event.

What do we use as a weather gauge? We need a process to make a "go/no-go" call.

My personal feeling is that a little rain is harmless. However rain all day is pointless. So my thought is that we maintain a "go" status as long as Eastern side of the pass is showing dry and sunny. As long as weather lets the vert owners drop their tops over there I think all would be good.

Bad weather on both side would postpone till the 12/19 of October?

Thoughts?

Accuweather Extended forecast is still looking OK right now. Maybe we can look again 3 or 4 days out and discuss alternates if its not looking good, depending on the chances of bad weather. Probably better make a go/no-go decision on Friday to allow people time to check the forum and get the word.

Meh -- I'd vote the only go/no go should be snow. We live in the northwest, and rain is gonna happen. We'll still enjoy beer n brauts if it's cold and rainy... perhaps more than we would otherwise. Postponing to late October is going to leave us with an even more assuredly risky pair of mountain passes.

Way too early to trust anything.... But Thursday evening 6PM PST should be the "call-it" date IMHO. Gives folks a chance to kill reservations without penalties and plan something else with thier friends and families.

Rahtok shows his true PNW spirit which is hard to argue with, but if we were to face steady downpour the whole day, I think the turnout would suffer a bit.
