Jag Mac is the man! VERY knowledgable and VERY funny! Great work also!
He is able to tell you the design history of each and every model of Jaguar in history!
This thread has gone quiet. I'm another Detroiter, new to the Denton area, and wanted to check out who's still around and working on our cars. Fifth Gear in Argyle definitely is not - they nicely and politely asked me to take my business somewhere else.
Her Highness needs lots of work - wiring, transmission, body, paint and interior, at least.
I'm not sure if Jim is still around but I do know that Jag Mac still is. I've just recently resurrected my enthusiasm for Jaguars and am slowly waking my XJS up (which is fighting me all the way). Who else is still around?
I know a few people in DFW area that work on old Jaguars, but I'm a DIY'er mostly into restoring other kinds of classic cars. I mostly just try to keep up with repairs on my more modern Jaguars so not being a customer, I hesitate to "recommend" anyone. We do though have a very active local club and I would recommend you attend their events and ask around of those with similar classic Jaguars who they use as it sounds like you need more than just a few repairs. Finding someone to do "restoration" work is very different from finding a shop to do repairs. For example, you probably want to find different specialists for each area of work. The Red River Triumph Club is having a show coming up October 2nd in Fort Worth, always a bunch of Jaguars there so that's one opportunity to network. https://redrivertriumphclub.org/euro-show/
[ Anyone know of Jaguar mechanics in El Paso?OTE=sirreginald;834140]yeah, jag mac, but you'll have a hard time understanding the old man's Scottish accent on the phone, best to talk to the English sounding son.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for posting this. I usually try to do my own repairs. I have my own tools, lift etc, but I'm finding myself with not enough time on my hands and too many cars. I was going to ask about the club and whether it was worth joining. I'm not really a social butterfly that's keen on breakfast meets or club magazines. But I would love to meet with DIY'ers who are knowledgeable in these cars, that I can talk through technical issues and was wondering whether the club meets the bill.
Took Her Highness to JagMac. Nice enough guy, but he made it pretty plain pretty quickly that he didn't like my car. She runs fine now, but still needs plenty of work - like restoration-scale work. Was wondering about sending her across the pond to KWE.
