Jaguars are very rare in Lubbock, there is no Jag dealership and the nearest is 6 hrs away in Dallas. I have seen three Jags in the past couple of months...Always see BMW's and Mercedes on every corner that I turn.

Glad to have you on board chimera... I've been driving back-n-forth to Lubbock every week for the last 2.5 months for a construction job. I never drive either of my cars, however, as I only put that mileage on a rental. Not as fun (at ALL!), but so much easier on the maintenance. If I ever come out there for a client call in one of my jags, I'll look you up.

I see a fair number of them here in Dallas. I live in Carrollton and regularly drive around West Plano where there are loads of import dealerships.

Corey, I'm in Carrollton as well. Hebron and Harvest Hill area. Give me a wave if you see the blue cat go by.

I live in Clear Lake and office in Houston as well, probably see you on 288. It might be that I notice Jaguars more now than before I owned one. Even my good friend who is a die hard Lexus driver for 12 plus years is wanting our XJ.

I'm actually going to sell my 2010 XFR, so if anyone here in Texas (or more specifically Houston) is interested, reach out to me.

We have a Bistro (Crumbzz) in Forney, TX (23 miles east of Dallas) and would love to host a Jaguar get together.
Anyone interested, let us know and we'll put it together.

Welcome ZJD!

Jstephen, that's a generous offer to host a member gathering. I know there have been some talks about putting one together, but as far as I know, nobody has stepped up to take the reigns. I hope they do...as I'd be in attendance for one. The moderators here, as you may know, promote the heck out of meetups, and will do all they can to get the word out and support those coordinating it. Maybe I'll get to see your Bistro in the near future.

Regards,
John

Hello, I'm new to this forum....new to all forum for that matter. This is my first attempt. I recently "rescued" a 1997 XK8 from a knuckle-headed GI at Ft. Hood. He was doing just about everything he could to destroy her....she only had 60K miles! My local mechanic tells me now that I need at least one new head. I'm not sure just how to proceed. Do you know anyone with a similar experience I might consult with?

Contact Russell McInroy at Jag-Mac. They are located at 2320 Merell Rd in Dallas. You can reach them at: jacmacjaguartexas@sbcglobal.net, (972) 241-5747. I have a 2005 XK8 that they service. They have done everything from trannny replace to oil changes. I used to go to Auto Scope who were good but pricey. Jag-Mac's prices are much better and their work is great.

I think you have got your self a real project car. In my opinion this would make a pretty good parts car. A 97 is not a great year. There are a lot of design problems with the XK8 until very late 02 and later. 03 is the best place to start. If you are not a doityourselfer then you will easily spend more money fixing this car up than you will spend on an 03 or newer. There are lots of cars out there at this age. Low mileage is not as important as good maintenance.
