I am retired except for minor repairs or using my WDS/IDS and printout for diagnosis.
I can configure keys and other easy things but I don't want to get into lengthy repairs or heavy lifting.

So can I drop off my car for a new fuel pump? I don't believe that checks off any of those boxes...

I can replace a fuel pump. I DO NOT get in a hurry but that is a pretty easy repair.

Even a full tank is easy because I have a small electric 'drop-in' pump and a 35 gallon drum to transfer the fuel.
Remove the bottom lines and drag the empty tank into the boot. (if this is your XJS?)
I do NOT do restorations or get into a 'laundry-list' of trying to get a dead/neglected car back on the road.

I have seen the "well it ran when I parked it" (a hundred years ago) "so it will only need a tune-up."
I am NOT your guy. (too old to get involved in somebody's project)

I suggest to have your friend get in contact with the local club. Looks like their monthly dinner meeting is coming up on Feb 1st. Just show up and they'll be happy to talk to you.

https://www.joant.club/

I do all my own work so I can't really "recommend" anybody but many of the members can tell you who they write their checks to

I called the guy I buy A/C compressors from and asked if he had JUST THE CLUTCH PLATE or if he could get just THAT part without the pulley/coil/plate assy.

He said he would look and get back to me on Monday. (Mar 7 2022)

I've moved this thread from General Tech Help - it couldn't be more Region specific!

If you haven't found a repair place yet, I would suggest British Auto Specialists in Haltom City (Ft. Worth.)
I was there about 9 months ago and they had quite a few 50's and 60's Jags in the shop. They also work on modern Jags as well...

I had my PPI done at Jag Mac in NW Dallas. Not far from where I bought the car. I was very impressed with their knowledge and service. They are Jag only guys.

Cheers,

Cheers,
I preferred Jim's Jag Shop. Very knowledgeable English gent there loved explain how Jaguars worked. Very sad to discover today that he passed away and the shop is closed. I guess Jag Mac is my only option...

Good luck, let us know how it goes. The options here in Austin are exceptionally slim.
