Just bought my 01 XJ8 L and all service after the warranty period was done at Stewart's. I'll be taking my car to Stewart's on 5/16/11 for an oil change and to fix a wheel bearing. PM me a week later so I can tell you about my experience.

Also, the Jaguar dealership here in Sacramento has recommended Stewart's for any and all services.

Default Stewarts

Dropped off my 01 XJ8L at Stewarts yesterday in Sacramento. The gentleman up front and was extremely knowledgable. The facility is clean and professional. A 5k oil change will be $120 and they will charge me $65 to check the problem with the wheel bearing. If there is a problem, the $65 will be placed towards the repair cost. Hopefully I will hear from them by Wednesday.

They also work on exotics and other high-end European vehicals.

I like BBQ. There is a new SmokeEaters at 10650 S. De Anza Blvd., Cupertino, CA 95014. (408) 255-2214 They are open from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Let's meet Saturday June 4th at 10:00 AM - Look at the cars for an hour, then have lunch. Huge safe parking lot. It merges / winds around and can hold many cars.

Let's see how many people/cars will show up.

John's Jaguar's in the city is a decent place. Got my smog issues taken care of there.

Seriously, I just got word from my company that I'm moving to the Vallejo area. I've got a 2002 XKR-100 who LOVES the shop...I need to find a good one there in the Bay Area, preferably in the Vallejo area (cheaper for the tow truck...)

Dave
Dave,

Try Milts Service Garage in Vallejo. Ask for Adrian. I've been taking my 2002 X-Type there for years. Great shop! 5 stars!

Default Bacchus

Bill, I never used their services in the strictest sense. But a year or so ago I developed a rattle at the dash that nobody could identify. Most shops zeroed in on the dash's innards and suggested varying versions of "take the dash out" based on my verbal descriptions of the when and where. The estimated costs were in the range of $500-$1,500. Only one shop actually took a test drive.
I stumbled on and stopped off at Bacchus while on another errand - I didn't know they existed until then. The shop was very busy but a technician stopped what he was doing and offered to listen to my tale while wiping his hands. He looked the car over, and concluded that the defroster vents were the likely culprits. They were. I went to Home Depot to buy the recommended parts for a cost of less than $5. When I returned to offer payment I was rebuffed most aggressively.

That's the kind of knowledge, intuitive trouble shooting, dead-on accuracy, and customer service a Jag deserves. Bravo to Bacchus. They have my 5 stars.

Boris,

Thanks for your quick response! I guess the Jag community in Pleasanton is alive and well. I went to see Bacchus about a suspected faulty front shock absorber which he tested and could not find an issue and had the oil and filter changed instead. Had a good experience with Bacchus and plan to go back: I am experiencing a problem this week well documented in the Forum with the X350 with dual climate control with the passenger side blowing warm air with the heater on while the driver's side blows cold. Hope this one turns out to be simple and not a huge repair bill.
