Seeking an honest affordable shop in Santa Barbara / SLO
Just moved here and all that show up in searches say they aren’t doing enough volume and have switched to Land Rover/Audi service except the “s’dealers” ...and I’m not doing that.
If anyone has personal experience with a shop they trust with their own Jag that is skilled, honest, and doesn’t inflate costs, I’d appreciate a PM and post here ASAP.

I run a 97 Vanden Plas in Santa Barbara and I have avoided using the local shops mainly because of cost, but also because I prefer to do the work myself.
There is the main Jaguar dealer and Shop on Hope as well as Bob Jarrett downtown, who I have heard good things about. Then there are the regular independent shops, but their Jaguar experience varies.
I have heard good things about XK Motorsport in San Luis Obispo

I know this thread’s a few months old, but I wanted to add something positive: I’ve been going to Bob Jarrett (307 E. Gurrierez, Santa Barbara) regularly for the past 6 years. He’s resolved some head-scratching problems with my XKR, and don’t know what I’d have done without him - extremely knowledgeable, honest and fair. Can’t recommend him enough.

Yes, in SB Bob Jarret has experience with older Jags, his quote was reasonable, and he's willing to fit you in amidst the Rovers he mainly services now.
I do NOT recommend any of the others who advertise that they work on Jags.
The dealership was not enthusiastic about dealing with anything they had not sold. I later learned it's because the techs are not trained to work on the older models.
