Hey jimmy,
You have an XJR, why would you get 245's man TIRERACK and every other tire place states 255/35/20 for XJR. It's only a plus2 for your XJR since you have stock 18's. I recommend the 255/35/20.
Only the XJ8 optional plus4 sizing is the 245/35/20.
Ask around, makes a difference, load index is 98W for these cars. A 245/35/20 only hits 96 load (only a couple 96, most are 95)
So you really should get the 255's like I probably should have, as it's a lot closer to our load index of 1621lbs per tire.
@cutlass
Most of Tirerack's 255 are cheaper the 245. I got some General Exclaim UHPs, seem to be one of the best rated tire on the site for the price. Continental makes General btw, which rolled out the ExtremeContact DWS which is tearing up the ratings for a beautiful A/S tire with a 540 UTQG.

sorry i disagree, you are going to notice no performance difference between a 245 35 20 and 255 35 20.
The load ratings of any of them are more then plenty.
Unless you are driving on a track, normal street use is not going to test the limits of any of these tires.
The biggest worry is rubbing on sharp turns, and a 255 is more likely to rub.
I had 245 35 20s on an xj8 and the fronts did indeed rub on sharp turns when full of passengers. 255s would have been worse. The wheelwells of an xjr arent larger

Well i've no clue, I was just going by what the professionals at all the tireshops have told me.
I would think that any height/strength gain you can get with a 35 series tire, you really should take it hah.
I get no cut or rub on mine, and i've a stock 98 xj8 with 245/35/20. I won't be slamming 4 people in my car though, so i'll never know.
Im suprised you weren't running on rim, as a 35 series tire only has 3.4" of sidewall anyway. :P To slam 4 fullsized adults, wow you're brave dude! The tire only sits about 1.5" from the ground with nobody in it.
Is the suspension on an XJR exactly the same?
Check on cardomain, check out all the xj/r/k's on there. There are a lot with 20s and 35 series tires with 255s that recieve no cut/rub. Must be your car.
What PSI you run those 245's anyway?
