Default Michelin HydroEdge?...or Maybe Destiny?

Didn't want to Hijack Pdog's thread...but same question..anyone running Hydroedge? Any experiences?

I've got Pilot Sport and Pilot Sport A/S Plus on a couple of S-type 3.0L's (one set of 16's and a set of 18's) but not much time/miles on either thus far. Even so, very happy with ride, traction and noise (lack thereof)

Rotated the Pirelli P4k's on the VDP yesterday....looks like one is pretty well done in the center even though I keep a close check on pressure and it hasn't been running over-inflated.

I'm leaning toward the Hydroedge in a P225/60R-16 97T BSW due to treadwear.

Guess my current second choice would be the non-directional Michelin Destiny. Anyone running those?

Not sure if it matters to you, but the Hydroedge, has a somewhat lower speed rating than most others in the class. I forget exactly what they are rated. You can check it at any tire site.

I have not been impressed with the hydroedge. They seem to wear fast and never evenly. I would go with the Destiny's given the 2 options.

I came to the same conclusion after my online research. I ended up fitting Michelin Primacy MXV4's back in June. Nearing 10k mi. on 'em now and couldn't be happier. Can no longer remember why Destiny dropped out of contention; whether price or if I found some skeletons in their online closet.

Hydroedge is no longer being made. Replaced with the Defender. Just bought the first set in Corinth for our 2006 Toyota Sienna (225 60R-17) 90,000 mile tires (right). They are smooth, quiet and hopefully will last for a while. I have a set of the P-zero tires on the 2004 XJR and they are worn out after 12,000 miles. Discount is giving credit towards a set of Kumho ECStA 4X. The p-zero had a 35K warranty. My wife drives this car and does not perform high speeds or burn outs. The p-zero tires were 1600.00 plus when new. Too much for 12K.

Hi Kyle. Keep us updated on the Defenders. I've got 22k on the Primacy's now and still love 'em. Think they are 60k warranty but don't remember exactly. Looking like I should get 60k easily enough.....

It's a moot point now that the Hydroedge tire has been discontinued, but I just want to add my opinion: I have 4 barely used, maybe 3 year old Hydroedge tires on my X300 (the previous owner put very few miles on the car the last 3 years he had it since he built up a collection of Jags and much like a football coach with many skill players, hard to get the ball to everyone) and I find the tires to be quiet, confident in the rain, and wearing well (read: slowly). The only drawback I see is high(er) speed turning capability, which could be better. Overall I give them good marks, and will consider Michellins when time to replace. Will also Consider BF Goodrich and Continental.

Regards,

Zane,

I have a set of the Primacy MX4's on the 1996 XJ6. However, only drive a couple of times a month. The tires are smooth and doing well so far. The only reason I did not purchase the Hydroedge for the Sienna was if one of the tires happened to fail there would be no replacement available, hence the Defenders.
