Modern Wheel alternatives for '94 XJS
My new cat (1994 XJS Artic White vert) has the original 15" lattice wheels on it. I like them but there doesn't seem to be many tires for the 235/60r15 size anymore. What wheels would fit? I'm not a wheel guru by any means so though I understand the basics (offest, bolt pattern etc) I don't know what is possible as far as fitment.
I'm looking for something understated and simple with a relatively open pattern. I'm also very willing to go up from the 15 inch wheels; even my little MINI Cooper had 17 inch wheels on it. I think 17 or even 18 inch wheels might not look out of place on this ride.
TIA,
Tony
BTW, if there are good tires that fit the 15's that would be even better (and cheaper). Please let me know if there are any good options

Most Jag wheels up to '97 would fit....including any from older/newer XJSs. A 16" wheel (used on many Jags) would be a good idea for more tire selection.
Aftermarket choices are limited because the Jag wheels use a larger-than-typical center hole....although the hole can be bored to fit in many cases.
The 17" wheels from a '95-'97 XJR/6 look great on an XJS, IMHO.
The 16" 5-spoke used on later XJSs looks good as well, IMHO.
Cheers

Tony,
You're getting some good advice. I'll just add a personal opinion if you don't mind. Stay away from chrome. IMO nothing cheapens a classic car like chrome wheels. Bling is not so good on Jags. I'm starting to see a lot of fine cars coming from the factory with some God awful chrome wheels.
We have a picture section here on the Forum. Take a look at what others have done. It will help a lot pro or con on wheel design.
