A/C Compressor Valve Spring Mod
I'm planning to perform the TSB's A/C compressor valve spring (JTB00183) on my 2004 Jag 2.5L.
Will I have to remove the compressor or is it pretty simple to access the back of the compressor to do this job without removing the compressor?
Appreciated much!!!

I did this mod last summer very easy to do no need to remove the compressor just need a 10mm wrench back the bolts off evenly so as not to damage the thread the spring is quite strong.
Po remember you will have to get someone to drain the system of refrigerant. took me about 30 mins to complete this does not include the 2 hours i vacuum tested the system once finished.
the only hard part is getting the plate back on with the strong spring just take your time and you will be fine.
Good luck.

Paulc732:
How bad was your A/C prior to the mod?
Mine barely produces cold air especially in a hot day and I have to idle at 3k rpm to make a slight difference, otherwise, it's pretty much warm air.
I did get the system checked out and there isn't any sign of leak. Complete evac and recharge didn't help either at the time.
Thanks!

The odd shapped one behind the plate removed for the mod.
Probably get this kit and just use the seal.
Common compressor would think the seal is easier to find.
Edit... found it on ebay but is on the wrong side of the country for me.
Take a week to get here and amazon is overnight. Might be helpful for others...

Also, the beginning of this video explains the purpose of the valve if anyone is curious
