Dennis, from the pics the nexxia fascia looks gray, like my stock dash. Is that right? I see you painted yours black which I am guessing is the color of your stock dash. just wondering what color your fascia came in.

Fixit, hope this all works out for you. looks like you are going to be the guinea pig because I am not going to get around to this until after Xmas unfortunately. I'm crossing my fingers for you and if it isn't too much trouble, please give us the details as you go through it. Funny, you are in PA, I am too, in Harrisburg. I see you are around where I got my Jag, near Allentown. Small world.

Default paint code (ped)

when my fascia came to me from nexxia it was a little grey...so the trick is the color code of the black x-type is [ped] so i have a place were i live who can put your exterior color in a spray can and spray very fine ....it comes out perfect...but when you order your fascia you maybe lucky and its the same color as your console ...if any problems with color you can order the paint...its a real easy job

Well after some issues of my C card not processing I finally ordered what I need...hopefuly__IT FITS___

Don't know how long to get everything from UK...I ordered another Pioneer f 90BT from the same company I got my first one..$ 525.00 shipped...I stuck with this model due to the many mods that can be done to the F series...just love how it picks up the traffic light speed cams..still not clear if the steering wheel control will work..but all in all we are looking at total $525 + $107 = $632

I will wait to see how the unit fits the fascia...I still may need the small trim piece which I will pick up off EBay if needed.

Don't know when I will get to do the install. I plan on having the unit on the bench prior to install for testing & mods + riding season is over and my bike is in need of engine & carb(s)work....did I forget to mention my busy schedule!

Queens...you will probably get your install done before me...I will keep an eye out for your posts....Dennis thanks again for all your dedication and support. FANTASTIC JAG you have!

Last....here is the rest from Dynamic Sounds Ltd.....prices seem very resonable...+ support is awesome...they responded to every email I sent within 24hrs.

Nkdarn,

Sorry for the slow reply...kinda busy this time of the year....anyway...no complaints with Avic F90BT....I got ( 2 ) of them...one in the Jag & one in the Rav4....I'll tell U the best feature for me is the bluetooth...though I must add (sometimes) when you use voice commands it does not dial the correct phone # or play the right album from my ipod...not a big deal though...just press in the volume knob and it cancels the command....I guess it just must take practice...my wife uses it all the time and it always works for her...what the ***...haha.

Anyway back to the install...I'm sure you viewed my install thread...honest because I had no idea what I was in for I say it was a challange...but if you are handy you will have no issues...just check my thread and get the parts I ordered....In my pics you will see I made spacers I made out of plastic to shim between the cage and the headunit....you could use anything...just need to sturdy the unit with the shims.

Steering wheel controler is still working perfect...very nice to have this work....get the one I ordered.

Yes the unit will stick out unless you open the facia like I did and allow the front of the headunit to slide through it...I measured & did this with a torch and a hot knife to open the facia plate till the radio sliped through it....I left the cage to radio mounting bolts loose..once you do that the whole thing slipped right in to the dash and positioned itself...I then pulled it back out and tightened all the bolts securing the radio to the cage...I was not so good with the hot knife so that is why I made that little frame to cover my mistakes when the plastic melted...all in all it sticks out roughly 1/2" and the ashtray door opens fully.

Dynamic Sounds is a great source for your accessories...great communication with all my questions...7 - 10 days to get your parts..

Listen if you go for this...do not get discussed...email me if you have any questions...I will try to help....the final result will be amazing im sure!

If you order the F90BT...make sure it has version 2.0 or better firmware...may problems with the Avics were due to V1 firmware...I hacked both my units...they run V3...there is a great source of info on the units at Avic411.com

Since then I added MTX mono amp and jackhammer 12" subs...You have to hear this system to beleive it..and I'm just not bragging here...out of all my rides this is the best system I ever installed.

Good Luck,
Mike

fixit, can't believe it's been so long but your setup looks really good. I'm impressed! Unfortunately I haven't gotten around to doing mine yet, but I am contemplating going the single DIN route, the wife wants a flip-up screen... The only thing I'm concerned about is the fascia not matching the interior trim, is yours an exact match?

Dennis,

I was really leaning on replacing the door speakers with either pioneer or polk audio. Saw a post on door panel removal...wondering if the upgrade will be worth the hassle. As of now I still have the factory speakers and no complaints with them...I can customize the sound to my liking with the avic's equalizer. My age ( 50 ) puts me over the hill when it comes to super loud music but I do like it clean...and thats what I got with my system....I must say it was a bear getting the mono amp/subs to sound clean...they we really hammering and vibrating the crap out of the trunk...I finally figured it all out by turning the bass boost level on the headunit to negitive 10....that made the bass nice & tight....now I got that home theatre sound I wanted at all volume levels.

if you decide to do speakers in the doors ...it takes 4mins to take the doors of...when you put seperates in there the sound is incredible...but i would wait till the stock speakers blow

Here are my last photos I promised of the finished system. Sorry it took so long to get them up here.

Special thanks to Dennis for providing a wealth of info on our cars. Makes life a bit easier when you have an insight on what you are up against.

My camera is as old as me...excuse the quality of pics

Ashtray door opens fully. I know alot of people have this issue.

One of the best features i enjoy...Ipod hookup..I hid it in the center console.

MTX 12" subs & mono amp...1200 peak watts...yeah right...took alot of trial and error to tune them..killed the bass adjustment on the headunit & they now sound clean & tight..next it took me 30 days to cure the trunk rattles. Finally good to go..

I saw a thread posted where someone was going to mount an aftermarket sub & amp to the rear deck in the factory location. To let everyone know I orginally purchased an all in one.. Boss 1200 amp/sub combo...made custom brackets and mounted it to the rear shelf...what a job....result...terrible sound no matter how I tuned it...30 minutes later it gave me one hell of a shock and shut down...all that work for nothing...but it did look awesome there and neatly out of the way. I did not want no big box in the trunk but this was my only option..I am glad I did get it...the sound changed my mind.

Oh P.S...I did not show in the pics...but I have a gray color matching fabric with a custom rod I put in time to time...It hides the sub enclosure completly. Trunk area looks clean.

Have a great summer everyone.

Mike

Default high, low beam bulb replacement

I am trying to replace the high, low beam bulb. There are a couple screws by the headlights if I unscrew them the nex step is to take the bumper out but my front logo plate is attached to the bumper cover, Do I need to get it off or I just pull the high, low beam light out to get to the bulb?

And by the way the door speakers are wired harness so I have to find an audio shop or online that sales a car speaker wired harness

WOW, did you do all of this by your self?
You are extremely good with cars if you managed all that on your own.
