P0430 Help
Hello,
I need your help. I purchased a 2002 X-TYPE v3.0 many years ago for my mom and it is up for (Ontario) emissions testing due by the end of August. The car has a check engine light and it is reporting P0430 catalyst below efficiency bank 2. The local Jag dealer quoted $1800 to fix the issue by replacing the cat. What a rip off!
My mother cannot afford a $1800 repair but she needs to pass the emission test. How do I get rid of the code so that I can pass the emission test? Should I get O2 simulators?
Lastly, is this an O2 issue or cat issue or something else?
Any help is appreciated with this issue. Thank you in advance.

You have to remove your O2 sensor. It's much easier with the correct socket which you can buy at a reasonable price. Screw in the spacer, then screw in your sensor. Done! These have worked for me. I replaced an O2 sensor and the CEL came back on after about 50 miles. Then I put a spacer on later and CEL never came back on. That was about 2500 miles ago.
