"LOW OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE"
Does anyone know if there is a way to turn-off this warning in the message center of the console?
For any of you who may not live in a place where you've ever seen this, It seems that when the temp gets below 40 degrees of so, the message center (that usually has the mileage and fuel displays) says "LOW OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE". As if I hadn't realised this myself, or as if the display of the current exterior temp on the climate controls isn't enough.....
So when ya push the button on the end of the stalk that usually scrolls the display to the next value, the fuel mileagedisplay comes back, but only for 10 seconds.
Am I just going to have to live with this for 6 months of the year?

RE: "LOW OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE"
Mine comes on around 40 degrees too. I would suspect it is supposed to
be closer to freezing when it comes onto warn of possible ice on the road.
I have only seen it flash twice so far but we are getting into the colder weather
now so I am sure I will see it moreif not daily in the winter up here in Maine.
Maybe oursensor calibration has drifted off hence the warning @ 40 degrees?
Not a big deal, just another bell/whistle.
Thanks to Dennis for pointingout the "main" reset button to try. I will have to
do that when it comes on agian but so far it has not stayed on long enough.

RE: "LOW OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE"
I'll try the tip about hitting the center 'reset' nbutton. Good one! thanks!
As for temp, it seems to go off when the indicated temp outside (as indicated on the climate control screen) says 40. But below that, it's on.
And yes, it's cold here in the mountains of Utah. I woke-up to snow on the ground yesterday. Unfortunately, my wife gets the only heated parking spot that's not currently occupied by my college-bound daughter's posessions...... [:@]
I keep telling her that her car (Jeep Commander) is a LEASE, we should take better care of the one we OWN! (The Jag) But in the end, it's more about me not wanting her to have to scrape windows or warm-up her car in the mornings.

RE: "LOW OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE"
The indicator will come on when the temp outside hits 40 F. If you hit the main reset it will go off. But if you are driving in an area where the temp is fluctuating up and down around 40 F, as soon as the temp goes above 41 and then down to 40 again the message will come back on and have to be reset. So its not necessarily a question of hitting the reset and having the message off until you restart the car. I once asked a Jag technician about this and he told me something about resetting messages by hitting the reset and holding down the button on the end of the indicator stalk at the same time. I tried this but got no where. Maybe there is a fix but it sure is an annoying and basically useless message.

The mother of all idiot lights. Mine comes on at 40 and below as well. I used to hit the reset button all the time, now I just live with it. I believe it is supposed to be an indicator that there may be ice on the road. Of course if you can't figure out it's cold outside.....
The low washer fluid light is the more annoying of the two, I agree.

RE: "LOW OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE"
I find this all very funny.. My low temp light only comes on at the moment I start the car. and never anytime else. It self clears itself after a few seconds. It really does not tell me much usefull information to tell me it is cold out when I am just starting the car! I am already there shivering, and reaching for the seat heater switch. I probably just scraped the window, and waiting for the defroster to kick in. a little message really does not add to the situation.
To be useful, I wish it would come on for a few seconds everytime the temp drops. That is what BMW does.
On a long drive it is nice to know when the temperature is dropping.
