I have a 02 3.0 x-type auto, I purchased this vehicle with a failed abs ring on rear, I never noticed any noise then and the vehicle drove ok even with abs and engine management light on, anyway had a new hub fitted and now I seem to have a droning or bearing sound occuring and increasing in frequency from 40 to 60 give or take coming from what I think is left rear, the hub that was replaced, in saying that but it could be the diff as I am trying to listen to the hub that was replaced.
Is it true the vehicle when abs light comes on goes into 2wd mode as I cannot understand why there is now a noise and this was not noticed before.
Although not deafening it is a frequency that changes and becomes annoying, I have slipped the the vehicle into neutral at 60 and still no change?
Any ideas, could it be anything to do with brakes, bushes or am i looking at diff?

It never goes into 2wd, its a full time awd. Xtypes are really prone to noises since you dont have an entry level luxury car without leaving alot off the car..like sound deadner! But sit in the back seat while someone else drives, have them go around corners or changed lanes back and forth. Many times outer wheel bearing will get louder or quiter in and out of turns. I useally drive them at speed on the lift. And listen to bearngs, carrier bearing, and diff with a stethoscope
