07 325i vs Jaguar X Type 3.0 AWD
#21
I'm 6'2", and I have a ton of leg room, more than enough. Probably one of the most comfortable cars I've owned. Don't know how it compares to the Corolla, I wouldn't be caught dead in one of those.

Ok pulled the trigger and now I am a proud owner of a fantastic Jaguarauto X-type 3.0. Now i need your help in other ways.
1. Is there anyway to make this car faster. The car seems less than the advertised 232 hp.
2. The lack of MP3, DVD playback and navigation is killing me. What are my options

1. If you suspect it is down on power, you might take it to a rolling road (just make sure it's an AWD compatible one)? There is no cheap way to increase the power of the engine, and even if there was, the transfer case is a weak link in the drivetrain and would require some sort of improvement and to my knowledge nobody has attempted such before.
I must ask, how do you drive the car? I've the 2.5 manual, and it's certainly quick enough for me (I rarely exceed 3000 rpm). I drive in a fairly civilized manner and usually go from 0 to 60mph in maybe 30 to 35 seconds. Do keep in mind that constant hard launches on any AWD car can ruin the drivetrain fairly quickly, if that is your fancy.
2. MP3 compatibility is available through Jaguar's ACM (Audio Connectivity Module), but it's quite expensive (300USD or more + installation). OEM satnav can be retrofitted but it's a lot of work and the system itself is as old as Windows XP so it might not be worthwhile. I've no idea on DVD playback, can't imagine why anyone would need that in a car. Do you watch movies on parking lots?
Most cost-efficient and versatile solution would be some 2-DIN aftermarket headunit, but not all fit. There are several threads about choosing & fitting such on the forum already.

It's not straight forward. The car audio system thingy communicates over optic cables, to my knowledge there isn't anything you can hook to that aside from the Jaguar ACM.
If you have a cassette player head unit, then see this:
How-To: DIY headunit hack for AUX-IN (on tape deck).
I'm going to do that as soon as possible too. Not sure if the same trick works with the CD head unit (not the changer), if the same Sony chip is used there as well.
