10,000 mile interval oil changes
Hey guys,
I was reading in the manual that the X-Type comes with a free oil changes at 10-,20-,30-, and 40,000 mile intervals. Is this for new vehicles only or does it also include CPO vehicles (the manual didn't say)?
My vehicle is a 2004 with 25,000 miles (service needed at 34,000 miles). Would I get the free 30- and 40,000 oil changes? I'm unsure.
Thanks.

My Jag was owned for only 1200 miles previously before my name was on the title..Once I had everything x-fered over to me at JAG central, I enjoyed the every 10,000 mile courtesy treatment along with whatever else came due at those intervals....I never let them do my oil as they only would pay for non-synthetic..But Idid geta free oil filter every 10,000 miles ( I change my oil every 5,000 miles, so I got a free filter every other oil change)
Thats every 10,000 miles up to 40,000 miles or in four years, whichever comes first.

Those "free" oil changes are a bunch of baloney. If they're so concerned, they'd be doing them every 5,000 miles, not 10,000. The oil change costs the dealer peanuts, but it does get youbringing in your car so they can up sell you something or tinker around until they find a bigger problem. Change it yourself !

That only applies to certain years and under the original warranty, not select. And Jags coming out with a new V8 soon and special Castrol oil for 15k oil changes, I still do not agree with this, but who am I to say, I only fix them when they break

Chris you can wait for a JAG tech's opinion and I value theirs a lot..But for my own piece of mind and a little old school mentality..I change mine Every 5000 miles with Castrol Syntec.

Thanks Dennis. I hear what you are saying, that was my normal procedure as well until a year or so ago. I drive probably 90% highway cruising, and the oil "looked" quite good when I was changing it at 5k (I know "looked" isn't something that can be measured). Due to the driving habits of the car, I stretched it out to 7k with the full synthetic. Rarely does it go longer than that. The oil change idiot light on my turbo Saab usually doesn't go off until 10 to 12k, fwiw.
With my Jeep ZJ that has a lift and big tires, which I use to tow frequently, I change it at 3k simply because that old school AMC straight 6 seems to have to work much harder than the Jaguar V-6 does.
Just curious what Brutal had come across since he would have a wide cross-section of experience. I seriously hope this doesn't turn the thread into the great "when to change the oil" arguement that has been had probably 50,000 times on this board and others.
