A5, the value of a car is relative to the location that the car is being bought in. So, you are asking a loaded question. Jags in say LA, DC, NYC, etc will get more money because that is the "desireable car" to have, and therefore will get a higher dollar. You go to say the middle of Kansas, the asking amount for a Jag will be much less as the need/want for a car like that is much less.
I would say to walk in with say $6000 cash and see what they say. If they say no, be ready to wish them a good day and walk out the door. Just make sure to leave you name and number for when they change their mind. You can find X-Types just like you are seeing for much cheaper, but you would then need to do a little bit of travelling to go and get the car. In the long run it will be cheaper, but you are having to do more leg work. So, your call.
Not trying to be nosey, but why are you wanting an X-Type? If you are wanting something to "zoom" around town in and have fun with a sports car, the X-Type is not the car for you unless you have deep pockets. You need something that is good in all weather and has AWD, then it is the Jag you are after. Not trying to steer you away from the car you are wanting, but some people have let their wants drive their needs and in the end they found out that the X-Type was not the car for them based on how they drive.
