My wife has 2002 X 2.5 with JATCO 506 gear box/trans. She went on a long trip in the pouring rain last weekend. She gets about 200 miles from home and the car start bucking and jerking throwing of the gearbox fault.

Now we have let the car dry out and I have taken it into Auto/zone and scanned it. This thing threw out 7 codes. So on the way home from doing that, it slips a little once taking off,.
First off, I would like to confess that the wife and I live in Michigan. Our finacial situation as really turned south. I can't really afford to take this thing into get it looked at. I worked in my Dad's Chevy garage and my dad owned a dealership so I know quite a bit about cars. So after reading all these codes, I'm just concerned whether or not some mechanical damage has been done to this tranny. It seems to shift smooth still but like I say it monkeyed the one time. And it herked and jerked quite a few times getting the thing home which, right then it probably should have gotten hauled away to the garage.

The codes that I could pick out from Ford,which is the engine and drive train/code to reference.
PO758 Shift solenoid2 circuit condition /shorted or open
P1746 Eletronic Presure control(EPC) solenoid shorted



She has about 1 more year left in payments on this car. I know the tech is going to tell her this is gonna need a new tranny. We have no warenty.


Right now its our only transportation and we are kind of bummed out.

If anyone has any advice that knows these thing, we would appreciate it.

I don't know if I should try and throw a bunch of parts at this car and try and flush and refill this tranny and add bottle of lucas to sqeeze a few more miles out of the tranny?

sorry to hear...
i had a gear box fault msg pop up on my car... next thing i no my car's in the garage and my trani needed to be replaced....... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!
