2002 x-Type air intake removal
Thank you for reading my post. 2002 Jaguar x-type 2.5L Lawrenceville, GA. Blue.
I am trying to replace my radiator. I've removed the air filter assembly but attached to this is the air intake assembly. I cannot remove this as it seems to be plastic-welded together. It wont go forward because of the part that attaches to the air filter. It won't go backwards because of the Y shape being too big for the hole. Can anyone provide guidance on how it is removed? I've attached a picture of the offending piece.

Welcome to the forum Grayson Wolfe,
I've moved your post from General Tech Help section to X-Type section. Members here with the same model as you have will be able to help with the procedure for replacing the radiator.
When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Grayson, well, as I see it, you have a choice to make. Something is going to have to give. The question is what do you want to try and replace? The intake should come apart right near the intake box (as I recall, been awhile since I have remove the air box in my car). Should be able to get the airbox loose and then rock it sideways and it will allow the small stub tubes to the two intake horns to become loose and it will come apart. The other thing you can try is flexing the plate that goes into the side of the intake box and see if you can flex it enough to get it out of the intake box. But, this can also lead to damage to the plate that holds the horns to the intake.
I would think that your better bet would be to simply force the joint where the horns go into the side of the intake. Truely you don't have to have the horns sucking the cold air from the front of the radiator as the intake has a heater in it (heated by the hot coolant from the motor) to help improve the mileage of the car. By have the tube cracked where the horn meets the intake box, you will just be sucking in a little bit more warm air (which is not significantly warmed up anyways when at highway speeds since there is so much air moving through the radiator).
