2002 X Type headlight cleaners
Brand new to this, so be patient. I just had fuel pump replaced and when I picked car up, service specialist asked about headlight cleaners and that I was missing the front mounted clip on the left side. I did not know I had such a feature and if this were true, why would there be a clip on the front facia that would be pushed off once cleaners activated. We tried half a dozen times each to get this to work and finally arrived at a combination of headlights on and pushing button at end of stalk. I watched amazed as the cleaners extended out.
So, one clip lost and right side weakly attached. Tech suggested going on Ebay Motors to find replacement and I found someone in Isreal. Basic question remains, why design something to extend beyond the facia and then cover it with a clip? Are there alternatives to the operation in Isreal??
Just one of many questions I may now have found a place for answers. Thank you for any help/suggestions.

Hi,
My 2002 X type has the washers also. I think they only activate about every 5th time that you wash the windscreen. I also lost the painted caps and I bought the replacements on E Bay. The washers seem very fussy, and they make a mess when they spray. Mine stopped working and I am OK with that.

Jaguar x Type Bumper Headlight Washer Jet Cover Right or Left Side Genuine New | eBay
Or
Jaguar x Type s Type Headlight Washer Cover Pivot Swivel Cruciform Pair | eBay
Ps, the above link is for aluminium clips (CRUCIFORM) AND after gently pulling them straight out, they are less reluctant in breaking again!!
Plus there are images on the same ad above and I hope that helps YOU! Stu

Hi Rockchalk,
I have searched evreywhere and only found the following:
Cleaning out the bottle and parts but to do this, you have to remove the front bumper or go in from under the undertray and both areas are dodgy if the bolts are worn or rusted or if you don't have a star-shaped screw-driver head !!
Most people have an issue with blockage and the bottle can be cleared by inserting a power-washer into the bottom of the bottle and washing it out.
Others have tried a steradent (denture cleaner), tablet which has worked, but the clips on the headlight washers are a nightmare.
I admit not using mine and having once had to refit the outer clip as I hit it with a car wash brush.
I wrapped an elastic band around my finger and slowly edged the 2 pieces back together but it was difficult!!!
If I can find something more useful, I'll post again, sorry I can't help more, if were around the corner, I'd come round as I like a challenge, but I must digress though, you have to be >IN THE MOOD< Good luck, Stu

I still am not certain if I am communicating with the people I want to, a forum person I am not, however, thank you for your feedback and suggestions.
I have owned this car for 7 years without knowing I had headlight washers. I still have not seen them work!
We also have an XJ and S Type R. Drive them less than 4,000 miles annually. Each has fewer than 60K, get cleaned with the clay bar monthly and a professional detailing semi annually. Beautiful like a women, and just as high maintenance.
