2002 X-type sterio question
Hello all. Im new to jaguar and this site, so please bear with me...
I bought a 2002 2.5 X-type froma local car dealer near me. Im hooked on jag's now, but have some problems/questions and thought maybe you can help.
Problem 1: I cant find a power chip, power commander or any horsepower units for my car.
Any ideas where i can get aftermarket upgrade parts for more horsepower?
Problem 2: I have the cd/nav unit/heat with the touch screen, and want to put in an
aftermarket radio. I cant find a mounting kit, or wire harness anywhere. took the
car to 3 different car audio stores by me and 2 said it cant be done, the other said
it would be custom and cant guarentee he wouldnt blow out my cars computer.
I dont care if i loose the nev unit(never use it anyway) and can use the manual
heat controls.
Anyone know where i can get the radio installation wire and mounting kits? Has anyone else done an aftermarket radio upgrade? If so can you please let me know what you did so I can try to do it.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Frank

RE: 2002 X-type sterio question
Please, don't change the factory sat nav setup. All of the aftermarket kits that fill that area in the console look like absolute ****. They're just a giant piece of flat plastic with a single DIN hole cut in the middle. They ruin the entire interior.
As far as aftermarket chips, don't bother. There's a reason there are none out there.
If you absolutely must modify it, a cold air intake and catback is as far as I would go. I think that many people on here will echo this advice.
But welcome to the forum. These cars can be addictive, for better or worse. I love mine, and wouldn't trade it for the world.
Actually, that's a lie. I'm looking to replace it with an XJ8. haha.
Again, welcome.

RE: 2002 X-type sterio question
I have the Nav system and love it..first car I have ever had one in..I found it a little cumbersome at first..but took some getting use to..But now I would not know how to be without one....Besides, the British babe in the box is fun to listen to.
BTW..Can Any Jag tech tell me if these NAV systems are WAAS compliant?..Seems the accuracy is like 20 or 30 meters, where as WAAS is within 2 meters.

RE: 2002 X-type sterio question
Thanks for the posts.
There are 2reasons i want to get rid of the navunit/radio.
First, with the aftermarket radio, I would have better control or sound settings, more power, an ipod hookup, and abality to run and control sub amps.
Second, since I bought the car, I have never needed the gps unit with its outdated maps. If I travel and need gps, I already owna Garmen, which I also never use.
I dont realy care what the aftermarket plate looks like, im going to upgrade it and cut it into a double dinn, the aftermarket plate would just be a starting point 4 me.My only problem is that im not sure if I disconnect the head unit, if my lower heat and a/c controls will still work.
Again, thank you all for the posts!!!
