2002 X Type Won't Start
My car started fine but i heard a beeping sound. 2 beeps, pause, 2 beeps, pause, etc. for a total of 12 beeps. Drove to the store, turned car off, removed the key, heard the beeps, got in the car, drove home, turned off the car, heard the beeps, now the car won't start but i still hear the beeps and all lights, radio, heat, etc. come on. Red light near gear **** comes on for a second then goes out. I've been trying to reset FOBs, i hear the 1st chirp when i turn the key 4 times but not when i remove it & push a button. What else can i try????

Hello and welcome,
Firstly I'm assuming you mean gear shift? When resetting the fobs this only resets the signal for the central locking to work, to get the key to work via ignition this has to be programmed by dealer. The chances that you key has stopped being recognised is slim as far as I'm aware? Others may have more insight. Good luck

Hello angel,
I have recently answered a few posts about various problems which all seem to have the same cause, the battery, if you have had a dead battery the chances are you will probably need to reset the ecu's try disconnecting the battery leaving if off for half hour then reconnecting it, its like rebooting your computer. Doing this solves many problems that you would never consider. Good luck

My mechanic "shade tree" is not quite understanding what you're saying. Take off the dead battery, leave it off for 1/2 hr even though it was supplying little to no juice to the car or the cables were off at times, then replace with new battery??? Could be that simple? Not doubting you. Just making sure?

My x type problem was not a problem
I'm reposting from the Mid-Atlantic section.
DreWRoolZ I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU!!!
I have been working on the car since Wednesday and missed 3 days from work and had people from all over the world give GREAT advice. Here you come and give your wonderful but un-thought of advice. So i say "Can't hurt to call the dealer and see what they and guess what? "Mam, every month when you make a payment you need to call us and manually set your PassTime Code.
And i owe a special thanks to Norri & GGG for sending me to the Mid-Atlantic section where someone in my hometown gave me the solution and to JimC64 for total access.
OH YEAH!!!!

Here in the U.S. some car dealerships put a system on your car so that they can automatically disengage the ignition if you don't make your car payments. Well, i made my 1st car payment on the 11th and didn't know that i had to call the loan company a manually punch in a code on a little remote in my glove box. Well as suggested by DreWRoolz who lives here where i am, checked with my loan company and was told that every month after making my payment, i need to call them and manually punch in a new code. Did that and she started right up. Took my new battery back. Imagine something so simple making a gown woman cry. You guys are great though. I'm hooked on this site. i've had a tool box for years, now i can work on something other than my washing machine, dryer, etc. I will be working on my own car with the advice of you guys because i've been all over this sight and you really know y'alls stuff.
