Default 2003 Jaguar X Type TCM?

Hello,

I have a 2003 2.5L X Type displaying gear box failure on the display. I managed to take there TCM out and honestly the connectors on it looks good..... That said I am looking to get a replacement TCm. Do I just need to get another 2.5L TCM or do I need to get one that exactly matches all 4 sets of lines of numbers? Here is the info off my TCM....
1X43-72401-KC
FJ6MUA0c 2.5L
31036 PL116
ETC-J344 A1 4317

Well any help from some one who has replaced this would be appreciated....

THANKS

My first question is how did you determine the TCM is at fault? What codes did you get? You might want to have a transmission shop check for the fault.
If you are searching for a used TCM if needed you can send a Private Message to Dr dome. He parts out x-types and can probably help you out.
Follow the link below to his profile and send him a PM.

At present the car is showing a P0758 as well as P01638 and P1603. This is the similar codes the car showed back in the early 2000’s. Which led to a TCM replacement. At present the car is in limp mode and stuck in 3rd gear....

Check your battery terminals, voltage, and cables. You can pop open the TCM and check for internal corrosion on there as well. I found some on the micro processor causing internal failure - cleaned it off GENTLY and it was good enough for a few months before I finally replaced it.

I will head out tomorrow and take a look at the TCM again with a more detailed eye to see what is up with it as far as the connections... But to be honest it looks absolutely fine as far as water goes..... IO did not see anything the first time. Could water actually be getting in to the connector where the main ECU is on the other side of the car?? Just asking if that is also possible?

THANKS
