Default 2003 X-Type A/C problem

I have a 2003 X-Type and the A/C blows cold while driving, but once I stop at a red light it quickly turns warm (outside temp). I have checked the pressure and it reads high, both fans are working, and the clutch is engaging. If I increase the RPMs while sitting still, it turns cold again. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...

What do you call high pressure?

Find the suction accumulator tank which is in the return to AC compressor line. At idle when the compressor is engaged, it should frost up until the compressor cycles out. If it only does it at a higher RPM like 1500, then the refrigerant is low.

You have a classic case of poor compressor regulator valve operation. Repair it per this bulletin and you will be ice cold again.

Cheers,

Default AC Probs

Just replaced my 03 X-type 3.0 Compressor. Used a local Kwik-Kar Mechanic who let me buy my own compressor/clutch and installed it for me. He provided a Dryer. You can get a Jag X-type compressor/clutch assembly NEW on Amazon for only about $240 plus shipping. That should be Part #78586. YOu can go to 4 Seasons - Home, to their e-catalog and check your correct part number. 4 Seasons is one of the biggest manufacturers of US Auto AC parts. Then just pay for install and charge. Access is pretty easy from underneath on a lift. You may need a new serpentine belt. Mine now blows good and cold, dude. Good luck.

I know is a little late to be talking about this but did it ever ocurred to anybody that this might be a fan problem? I mean... If the fan doesn't work or works weakly (which I've seen a lot on these cars) then when he moves he would get cold air... but when he stops the pressures rise and warm air runs through the vents... I'm a Jag tech and I whink I replaced more fans than compressors on that car.

I'M NOT SAYING ANYONE'S WRONG!!!

Good luck

and daxter i dont find that here in texas at all anymore, did years ago. Most of our issues are leaks, and poor cooling from the before mentioned issue with the valve in the compressor. Its easy to see with gauge hooked up and watching the reading on the low side go up to 50-80psi at idle. Fan issue shows as high high side pressure since the fan controls the head pressure and when it goes up too high the comrpessor shuts off till head pressure drops. Plus on fans issues we tend to see more overheats and as you already know that shuts off ac too...

Cheers,
The TSB says it isn't for V8 S-Types, in your experence does this TSB apply to V8 S-types?

Even though the TSB shows pictures, I thought I would share "real life" pictures:

Also worth a note that if a reman compressor is obtained from Jaguar, it has no valve at all; just a recess in the casting where the valve was.

Am I reading the TSB correct?
It basically says to remove and install the same parts besides the O ring?

I called jaguar in hopes of buying a new spring, valve, filter but they told me all these parts are not available and you would have to buy the entire compressor.

Did they discontinue selling these items? I can't understand how removing and reinstalling the same parts would fix the problem.
