2004 Jaguar X type GEARBOX FAULT!?!?! P1646?!
This is my first time posting and I really hope you guys can help me!! a 2004 jaguar X 3.0, And I was noticing that the car runs and starts fine when I first start it but it gets hot after about 30 minutes it doesn’t overheat, but the transmission starts running like crap, slipping, missing gears, going in neutral with the pedal to the floor and then engaging in a low gear. I got my Innova 5410 and error code P1646
1.) CAN Link to auto gearbox ECU implausible signal/condition.
2.)Linear O2 sensor control chip(bank1).
it has 105,000 miles and I have no clue where to start.
Also, When it’s warmed up and I put it in park, I go to put it in drive and it stays in neutral unless I pull the shifter down really hard.
please help this is such a really good car and I can’t wait to get this cat running great!!

I'd start with checking the ATF level.
I am not sure, if you also have the Jatco JF506E transmission in your 3.0L - that's the only X-Type transmission, which I know.
Checking the ATF fluid level means jacking up the car (safely), have the engine running (in P, while the ATF temp is around 40°C, remove the ATF level check bolt, which is UNDER the car, close to where the cable from the gear-selector gets into the transmission, and see, if the fluid comes dripping out. If yes, close again. if not, you are low on ATF.
Anyways, 105k miles is the right time to do a full flush ATF change - and yes: A full flush IS possible on the X-Type, even though most people think, it is impossible and they play their game with silly 3-4 times drain and refill (whereafter the ATF would still not be clean, but plenty of ATF would have been wasted). Obviously the correct ATF needs to be used (any multi-vehicle ATF would be wrong).
As mentioned above: I only know the Jatco JF506E, and if you have that, my DIY guide to do a full flush on the X-Type will be of help for you:

Thanks Peter I will definitely do that. But after messing around a little more it turns out that the issue wasn’t even a code. Apparently the electronic shifter gos bad every once in a while and I have to hole it in drive firmly and it won’t slip. I think it slips into neutral while driving if I don’t hold it back. But when I hold my shifter back the car shifts perfectly fine. Can anyone help me find one?
